Chapter 3: Home.

{Valerie}

Tanner quickly grabs my hand and pulls me out of the chaotic diner, filled with Crystal crying hysterically and Greyson saying over and over again 'Mine mine mine.'

To top it off the people at the counter are getting involved with Crystal's meltdown and her right hand girl isn't making anything easier.

But overall I'm confused as to why this Greyson Anderson guy is acting all crazy. He sounds like some possessive dog, and I swore he had been growling.

With all this going on I decide to get some answers because somebody, aka Tanner, knows what's going on.

"Tanner, what's he talking about?" I ask as he opens my door for me and jumps into the drivers seat quickly locking the door.

I stare at him with furrowed brows waiting for him to say something but he doesn't. He says absolutely nothing and starts the car driving in reverse.

"No, wait. Tanner, stop! What's going on?" I say and he puts the car in park and looks at me.

"Valerie I- I- you don't understand I need to get you out of here." He says lowly and that's when the door to the diner busts open, but I keep my eyes planted on Tanner.

"I'm too late." He whispers and takes his keys out of the ignition.

"What- damn it Tanner what's going on? Too late for what?!" I ask as Greyson stalks towards the car we're in and looks ready to kill.

My heart starts constricting as my body goes rigid, my brain screaming at me to run for the hills upon seeing him.

Something in the way he was staring at Tanner made my stomach turn, his black hair was suddenly damp and the suit he'd been wearing looked disheveled. The coat was long gone, and the first few buttons on his crisp white shirt were undone. And while all these things were equally confusing, my heart stopped beating when I noticed the small flicker in his eyes from grey to deep red.

My breath caught, and my hands were shaking as I watched the man that resembled something from a nightmare.

"Stay in here." He says and kisses me on the lips a few seconds longer than needed melting away my worries momentarily.

He pulls away and then sends an encouraging smile while putting the child lock on, locking me in the car.

I wanted to yell at him to come back, to stop being an idiot and take us home, but nothing came out. Not even the small gasp trying to escape my lips as I watched Greyson take in Tanner's approaching form with unchecked rage.

The moment they get within ten feet of one another a heated argument breaks out between the two. I couldn't make out any words, but I could tell it wasn't good with how Greyson was getting in Tanner's face while pointing harshly towards the car I was in.

It felt like they screamed at one another for years but seconds at the same time. All I know is that Tanner is suddenly thrown to the ground with Greyson on top of him, punching him repeatedly in the face as Tanner tries doing the same.

Tries.

I sit there watching with horror filled eyes and shaking hands as I start to look for my phone.

I don't know what's going on but my boyfriend's getting the crap beaten out of him. He's going to be a bloody pulp in the next two minutes at this rate. Hell, by the time this is over I won't have a boyfriend.

I rummage though the glove compartment frantically looking everywhere for my phone and find it nowhere.

"Come on!" I cry and then I see a little light brighten up the sidewalk.
