Chapter 26: The New Human's Mate.

{Valerie}

"Valerie." He breathes with a smile and takes me into his arms.

I stay rigid while holding onto his shoulders trying to reel in my thoughts.

I stand there numbly stroking Calub's shoulder as I try to make sense of this.

There's no way. This has to be some sort of messed up dream. Why would Calub be here?

"H-How are you here?" I ask softly and realization seems to dawn upon my mate.

"Mine!" Greyson yells snatching me from Calub's embrace holding me closely and I sigh.

I'm pretty sure if I touch another guy Greyson's going to flip a bitch.

"Calub, how are you here? I-I saw you. You were dead." I say while tears threaten to spring to my eyes as I recall the memory.

He was dead. He still is dead.

"Oh Val I'm so sorry. I did this for you, it's- you wouldn't understand-." Calub tries explaining and takes a step towards me with an outstretched hand.

Greyson growls warningly making Calub retract his hand.

"You found your mate?" Calub asks with a smile and I look up at him.

"Greyson?" I ask as if it's the weather and Greyson growls at my lack of acknowledgment that he's my mate.

"I'm Valerie's mate." Greyson says confidently and Calub's smile grows bigger.

"Can I-? Valerie what the he- oh the hot hunk of man is here." Alexis says wriggling her eyebrows and I find myself glaring as I wrap my arms around Greyson's waist, making a show of snaking my hands around his neck.

Yeah so what, I'm in my own little way staking my claim on him.

Calub raises a brow at Alexis' comment then grabs her hugging her.

Wait why's Alexis here?

"Where's my mate?" Amy whines while staring at us sadly.

"Calub what's a mate?" Alexis asks curiously and my thoughts start to come together.

"She's your mate?" I ask dumbly but more of a statement while looking at Alexis.

Bright, bubbly, free, Alexis has a soul mate. Oh dear, Calub have strength.

He nods happily down at Alexis and she frowns.

"Oh I get it." Alexis smirks looking at us.

"We're best pals huh? Well you're pretty funny yourself Calub." Alexis says and I stifle my laughter while Greyson frowns at Alexis.

"Calub can I talk to you? Alone." I ask and he nods when Greyson grows tense holding me closer burying his face in my neck.

"Greyson it's fine I'll be right back." He just states at me as I look at his lips then his eyes as I bring his ear closer to me.

"Remember, there's only you." I whisper while kissing his neck then pull back to smile up at him.

He smirks then leans down to kiss my mark and I clench my teeth.

Yeah I need to go now.

"Let's go Calub!" I say loudly then have Calub follow me to Greyson's office.

I walk over to Greyson's office chair happily sitting in it pretending that I'm the boss of the place while Calub chuckles.

"You know that chair and desk are way to big for you." Calub muses and I shrug twirling in Greyson's seat.

Clearing my throat I look to my thumbs wondering how to ask the question.

Just ask.

"Why are you here? I-I know that your were dead Calub." I say softly and he walks over to the desk kneeling in front of me.

"This may seem absurd but then again you believe in werewolves, so maybe it won't sound that weird," Calub trails off and I give him the 'try me' look.

"I had to fake my death. I'm a witch, and a powerful one at that. I've been in hiding waiting until Greyson claimed you as his mate. I know that you'll be confused but I can't answer the questions you have. Trust me though, when I say that everything will play out fine. You'll know what I'm talking about soon." He says and I stare wide eyed.

"Why? Why does everyone keep doing this to me?! They tell me stuff like this and then say 'you'll find out soon'. I don't want to find out soon I want to find out now. If I'm so greatly involved in this than why can't I know these things?" I rant and Calub sighs running his hands through his hair as he rests his chin on my lap.

"Calub I don't want to be in the dark anymore." I whine and Calub catches this and I give him my best puppy dog eyes.

"Val don't do this- no. Stop with- with that... face. Stop it!" Calub scolds as I pout out my lip and lean my forehead against his.

"Calub please!" I whine then end up falling out of the chair onto the floor next to Calub.

"Calub!" I whine louder and he groans throwing his body next to me.

A presence enters the room and I have a feeling I know who it is.

Alexis has a knack for trying to scare me.

I peak over the desk expecting someone when someone screams causing me to yelp in fright and jump into Calub's arms.

Alexis and Calub start laughing like people gone mad as I glare and punch Calub's chest.

"I don't like you." I mumble and I'm lifted up by Greyson who's glaring at Calub.

"What did you do to her?" He growls and I laugh at his face.

He looks so adorable.

"I'm a manly Alpha! Not adorable!" Greyson groans and I smile wrapping my arms around his neck.

"Greyson there are rogues on sight." Michael says from the doorway and I smile then wave at him.

Aww how cute there's rogues on the-.

"Rogues?!" I ask loudly and Greyson let's go of me kissing my forehead.

"I'll be back." He says and I silently pray he comes back unharmed.

"Well let's go catch up. I know an amazing diner close by." Calub says and I nod as he grabs Alexis' hand.

She stares at her hand weirdly, probably wondering about the sparks and the comfort causing me to smile.

I'm glad that we're finally getting along.

Okay I know I've taken forever getting this chapter out. I'm terrible sorry I know, but next chapter will be much longer, I promise.
