Return Of The Queen

Chapter 6

The Truth 

A week has gone by since Serephina's birthday and like all the weeks before, she's doing her rounds in the village after her morning run. The only difference is not everyone is in the streets today, its been like this for a few days now and Serephina grew curiouser and curiouser as most the adults of the village walked out of her home, Brannon and Lilah walking out as well looked frightened almost as if they've seen a ghost.

She approached her parents about to ask what was wrong when Brannon simply shook his head and Lilah pointed her finger to the house, slightly annoyed that she probably won't get answers out of them, she slumped her shoulders and headed inside but as she began walking toward the home she noticed that many of the villagers stood around murmuring as they stared at her. What the hell is going on and what do i have to do with it, she thought as she walked in, her parents following as they shut the door behind her.

"Serephina" ,her mother said her name in a tone she's never heard before, was it worry? anger?

"Yes Mama" she replied cautiously. Her thoughts going a million miles a minute trying to figure out what was happening.

"There is something your father and i need to tell you-"

"Lilah i still don't think we should do this" interrupted Brannon.

"We have to, she deserves to know, especially if what the rumors say are true and THAT woman is back"

Serephina looked back and forth between her parents as they stared at each other, no words were exchanged between them but as they looked at one another in the eyes it was more than enough.

"Okay Sere, sit down, we need to tell about a story about a woman, a queen from long ago..."

Serephina sat their as her parents told her everything, she couldn't comprehend the notion that the same woman rumored to be killing young girls and boys in the Berelli woods, the so called witch, who before that was known as the ruthless tyrant Ravenna who destroyed Kings and took their Kingdoms for herself, that same woman was... she was her mother.

She felt empty and broken and she wanted to scratch herself open and let the dirty blood that she shares with that woman leave her, she could not speak as her parents looked at her, as Micah sat in the corner with his head on his hands, he looked angry, was he angry at his parents?  No, no way, they are his parents, oh, he was angry at her, at the thought that she's related to that woman wasn't he. She looked at Lilah and Brannon, were they angry at her too?  no , no , theres no way, they love her, they all love her, don't they? 

Her head felt like it was spinning and her heart felt like it was on fire, she felt everything all at once and she couldn't breath. Before anyone could even move a muscle she was out the door running, she didn't know where but she ran and ran and ran and ran until she came out of the forest, still running until she collapsed, the gray cement floor came to her face and she slowly looked up out of breath, she was in the courtyard of the castle, the same courtyard where her mother left her years before, the same one that Lilah found her in, she felt numb and empty as she brought her knees to her chest wrapping her arms around it and laid on that floor crying and screaming.
