The Huntsmen

After over 20 hours of non-stop journeying the small group had decided to stop and get some sleep. They found themselves at the base of a peculiar rock wall formation to which they found perfect as their backs would be covered from anyone who would wish them harm. An agreement was made to take turns at watch while the others slept, Sloane volunteering for the first two hours.

A light nudge to Serephinas' shoulder waking her from her slumber came her father's voice.

"Sere sweetheart, it's your turn for watch, but if you're too tired I can do it for you"

"No Pa, that is okay you should get some rest"

The man nodded his head then helped her sit up, giving a small kiss to her head then going to lie by his wife.

She wiped the tiredness out of her eyes and sat up straighter, tightening her hold on the dagger at her waist. She watched the forest infront of her with a scrutinising gaze, the moon brightened most of the trees but some parts were still hidden from her sights. The forest was silent apart from a few insects chirping. She shifted her gaze to the sky, trying to count the constellations like her brother taught her.

Before the insects ceased their noise, a shiver ran across her spine and she was up on her feet looking in the direction which made fer feel uneasy, it was one of the darker spots of the forest. Her gaze hardened and unwavering she slowly pulled out the swords strapped to her back, approaching the denseness from the side. She briefly questioned if she should awake someone else but her feet answered carrying her into the darkness. Just as her eyes adjusted an arrow soared towards her, she dodged it rolling away, picking herself up she ran towards the source as she deflected each arrow meeting the person against a tree, one sword pressed to his neck as the other holds his free hand capture.

A glimmer of the moons light broke through the canopy of trees illuminating the two of them. Serephina realised that it was a boy not a man. He's skin fair with red freckles dotted across his cheek, his eyes green like leaves above them, his bright red hair atop his head which stood only cm higher than her own, his pink lips parted as he blinked rapidly, he almost looked like a deer in headlights she thought.

Damens' pov:

She was beautiful.

The moon shone perfectly on her face. Her skin pale but somehow still tanned. Blonde hair like straw. The bluest eyes he has ever seen, like the ocean to the North, full of depth He wanted nothing more than to get lost in them.

She was ... she was everything.

He was frozen, he nearly killed her yet here he was, falling for her, without even knowing her name.

He saw her lips move but couldn't concentrate on her words. He felt his focus regain as she pressed the sword closer to his neck, breaking the skin slightly.

"I SAID WHO ARE YOU?"

Her voice was strong and should've scared him but instead he felt his knees were giving in.

He's words failed him as he parted his lips but nothing came out.

Just as he was finding the words an arrow flew between their faces.
