Chapter 5

THROUGH THE YEARS

....5 years....

"Micah stop!" an ecstatic sequel left her as her face was plastered with the brightest smile and extremely red from running so much.

"Not until i catch you Fina!" the young boy exclaimed as he continued to chase her down the road.

The 2 screaming happily as they ran down the main road followed by the other kids cheerfully tagging along.

Micah was close , but Serephina managed to jump on to the fence and narrowly escaped his grasp.

Everything was perfect in that moment

until...

She accidentally lost her footing and began falling from the high fence, twice the height of her and Micah.

"Fina!!" Micah gasped afraid as she almost hit the ground but just as she closed her eyes and braced for impact , warm arms caught her , She knew who it was she didn't even have to hear his voice as he reprimanded Micah.

She oped her eyes and looked up at him , gently but firmly her voice stopped his mid sentence --

"It was not his fault Pa , it was mine please do not be angry with him"

A deep sigh left his chest as he set her down and knelt in front of her , ushering Micah forward 

"I am not angry with either of you , i could never be , i am simply just worried as every parent is , You need to be safe , do not play games that put either of you in harms way please okay?"

"Yes pa" both the children said apologetically.

"Okay come on now , time for food , your mother is making hazelnut soup"

The two looked at one another excited and their father smiled just the same back to them , giving his hand out and they both took it and continued home.

....10 years...

"Serephina"

"Yes Ma"

She turned around, both her parents and Micah looking at her , curiously she tilted her head ever so slightly.

"Come sit , we need to talk" Lyla spoke as softly as she always does.

The young girl quickly wiped her hands and put the last of the dishes aside to dry. She saunted over to the table ever so curiously and took a seat across from her parents and next to Micah.

"Am i in trouble?"

Micah softly snickered beside her , "No Fina just listen".

She looked back to her parents awaiting their answer. "Serephina, you are 10 now , do you know what that means?" Lyla questioned her daughter.

"No Ma ..... am i getting married or something?" she stated quizzically.

The small family erupted into small chuckles and snickers as she sat there worried.

"No , Serephina , oh my what goes on in that head of yours?" Lyla lightheartedly poked.

"Sere it means you are going to start training and learning , just like your brother "

Her eyes expanded like saucers , bewilderment present within them , a giant smile , possibly the biggest one yet graced her features. She stood up and stared at them as they all began to smile as well knowing how long ago she wanted to start.

"REALLY?!?!" she screamed as they stared at her ,

"Yes" they all said in unison.

"OH MY THANK YOU SO MUCH OH MY I AM SO THRILLED YES!!!" she went around giving them all giant hugs and performing a little happy dance.
