It had been days since the events of Buried, the doctor running around as one of the undead, wondering the earth aimlessly. The only think remaining of Dr Edward Richtofen being his mind, as the rest of him was controlled by undead instinct, and in all fairness the feeling of not even being able to move was torment to him.
Now in this time, Edward had alot of time to himself to think, both while he was in the Aether and while he was now a zombie, he slowly began to realise he was unhappy, as if the excitement in life that had once filled his every breath had disappeared completely, leaving a depressing husk of the man he once was. The most fun he got was making Samuels life hard, but why wasn't he happy? After all he did as the voices commanded, they promised him happiness. He *got* what he thought he wanted but it wasn't enough and not knowing why was beginning to irritate the doctor.
He sat in thought, pondering why, until his mind drifted else where to one of his test subjects, Thomas Dempsey, although he would prefer if you call him Tank. Something about the Marine was brought enjoyment to his life, wether it be his over the top reactions to everything, his stupid arguments with the Marine he would purposely start to cure his boredom, or just been near the marine himself. He found Dempsey's company comforting, something about his very presence drew the doctor to him.
Something just clicked in the doctors head at that moment, was Dempsey's absence the reason why he was so... Unhappy. Furthermore, did he like the marine?... No, he knew deep down it was more than that, the feelings he got were something he hadn't experienced in years... It was love. And oh did the Doctor curse himself for allowing himself to be weak enough to fall for an idiot.
He was snapped out of his thoughts when the sudden appearance of a portal appeared in front of him, it's beam blinding his undead eyes, but his body began moving on it's own, running through the portal into an unknown prison cell where he saw himself laying on the seat, and before he knew it, his undead body touched his real body and it was as if his mind had been transported.
The doctor slowly opened his eyes, only to be met with the Icy blue ones of Dempsey.
And somehow, he felt alive once more.
