Chapter 5: History in the Making

The next day Johnny and Dejah saw each other but didn't speak after the awkward night last night. However, Dejah couldn't let it stir her away from her goal.

At practice...

(Camryn's group)

"And walk, walk, walk, walk." Camryn guided

(Zach's group)

"Kick... drop... kick... drop. Remember when the person in front of you kicks you should be ready to start your drop." Zach yelled

(Dejah's group) 

"1, 2, 3, and 4, 5, 6, 7, stop. Jonika you are the tallest and you are what we call the tail. The tail is the last one to sit down and needs to make their sit rally sassy and extra, you need to make sure you make our stands extremely sassy. People are going to look at you because you're doing more than everyone else so make it good." Dejah guided

"What should I do?" Jonika asked

"Make it you, what team are you from?" Dejah asked

"Ballet." answered Jonika

"Do something you wanted to do there but never could, just remember you have limited space." Dejah smiled

2 hours later...

Dejah, Zach, and Camryn walked out to her uncle's car with the keys, she unlocked the door and looked over to see Johnny getting in his car. They make eye contact for a short time but Dejah breaks it and gets in the car and waits for her uncle. Johnny drives off slowly.

When Dejah gets home she notices her mom in the kitchen.

"Hey, how was school?" Tasha greeted

"It was okay, why are you baking ?" Dejah asked

"Leon and Leon have a bake sale at school, I have a question for you. Come here, bake with mommy." Tasha said handing Dejah an apron

"What's wrong mom?" Dejah wondered as she joined

"I noticed after your date yesterday that you and Johnny didn't ride home together." Tasha mentioned

"Yeah, he tried to kiss me and I told him I needed to stay focused." Dejah informed

"I think you should give him a chance." Tasha added

"You too? I thought you said I had no time for boys." Dejah reminded

"I did but your father says you can handle it and I think you could use the fun and support as well." Tasha stated

"I have fun and support from my family." Dejah replied

"And you will always have it from us but you need more support than just us, I'm not saying to rush into anything too fast or even at all but I just want you to know I support you wanting to date." Tasha smiled

"Thanks mom." Dejah smiled

"Okay, Tasha we are ready to head to the airport." Zach said walking downstairs with his bags.

"Hey, guys thank you so much for your help and I am so sorry that you didn't get a chance to see more of Beverly Hills." Dejah told

"It's okay, we just hope you guys make up." Camryn responded

"I doubt it." Dejah giggled

Dejah hugged Camryn and Zach goodbye and walked her to the door. 

(Day of the Homecoming Game)

Dejah is standing with her team fanning with herself. The team was wearing their fringed majorette outfits and caps on.

"Hey Dejah, good luck." smiled Johnny
