The work day became longer and longer each day. The cool of the air making everything seem miserable and bleak. Minds drifted from the business at hand to moments etched firmly into a memory.

Wind howling outside her office window reminded her of back home where winter was bitter and staying wrapped under covers was the most welcoming thing she wanted to do.

It was a day like this that changed many things in her life. The main one being a slippery accident that took the life of her neighbour and bestfriend Stephen. His death ripped and shredded the hearts of the many people he knew. His brother, Samuel, had been the one who found her after she ran that day.

Curled up under the tree where she and Stephen had made a makeshift tree house when they were younger. Samuel refused to leave her there even though she begged and then screamed for him to do so. He held her as together they wept their broken hearts. He wiped her tears as his own still fell.

Together they talked of Stephen and made the promise that his life was not taken in vain. They would always remember everything they could about him.

A knock at her office door pulled her from her memories and she realised the tears were falling down her cheeks. Quickly wiping them away she called Come in.

A concerned look from her colleague Charlie had her shaking her head with an almost whimsical laugh with the words of winter day blues her only explanation.

Charlie shook his head with a grin and held out a file she'd been asked to look at.

She reached for tissues and blotted her face while opening the cardboard cover of the file. Her immediate attention was drawn by the piece of blue paper on top of the pages.

My Dear Josephine,

I remember everything. The silly smile that reaches your eyes. The small dimples of your smile. The way your eyes light up like the sun when we speak of future happiness. I remember it all my love.

Remembering Josephine. Remembering the small details helps souls to heal and survive. Without remembering we wouldn't keep those we love in our hearts and minds.

My time has come Josephine. My breaths grow weak as my heart swells with the tears of knowing that I shall only see your beautiful face in my mind as I close my eyes for the last time.

Remember me Josephine as I will keep remembering all our wonderful moments as I take my last breath. I shall never leave you my dear Josephine as long as you keep remembering our love. I shall be waiting for you, for an eternity, I will wait.

Until we meet again my love,

Your very own,

Dear Heart xxx
