the next morning we get up and pack all of our stuff ready to head out. today we have the interview and we're flying to NY for the premier of the new season. i'm really nervous but trying not to show it and pj is just fine. we say goodbye to his parents and meet jeff and the guys to have the interview.
"so how was it meeting the knoxvilles?" bam asks as we start to sit for the interview.
"it was good. lemoyne and phil are great and so kind," i smile.
"less nervous about things with him then?" ryan asks.
"yes," i respond.
"did you guys go on your date?" bam asks.
"none of your buisness," i roll my eyes.
"okay babe want to come sit with me while we have the interview?" pj says. i nod and we head over. there's two rows of seats. on the back row, left to right, its jeff, weeman, preston, dave then ehren. on the front row its johnny, bam, ryan, me, steve-o and chris. the interviewers, josh and tyler are sat to the left and have a pretty thick stack of questions to ask. they're filming it but its also being written up to go into the MTV magazine.
"right so if everyones ready we can start now?" josh says, as everyone settles into their seats. we all nod in agreement and they set the camera.
"hello everyone this is josh," josh starts, directing towards the camera.
"and tyler from alternative press and were here with the guys, and new girl from MTV's hit show jackass. welcome guys, its great to have you here," tyler says, starting by looking at the camera and then to us. a circle of 'thank yous' and 'its great to be here' come from us all.
"so jeff and johnny. well start with a question for you two. what was it like deciding to film a season two of jackass and how did you know you could keep it as interesting as the first?" josh asks, looking at the pair.
"well, the first season did so well and no one else is producing this type of content - it was an easy choice to capitalise on the success of season one," jeff says.
"yeah, me and jeff, and frankly everyone, had many ideas we didn't use in season one that we felt we had to film a second season, though we wanted to keep it new, so we pushed each stunt further then the last and of course had a new member brought on," johnny continues.
"well thats a great segue to one of the biggest questions on a lot of people minds. so arabella, what was the process of joining jackass like?" tyler asks.
"well its hard to describe. i might use funny as the word, i remember not believing that the offer was real at first but everyone in the crew is really nice so it was easy to join in," i smile, i feel the nervousness rising in me but i'll be damned if i let my anxiety ruin this.
"yeah when i first called her, she listens and then goes 'is this a joke?' and she asked it like three more times until i finally convinced her it was real," jeff says, adding to my story.
"thats pretty funny, though it good hearing that the crew was easy to join into - what is it like on set for you guys? are you all good friends?" josh smiles.
"well everyone is pretty close, a lot of us are friends from before jackass. but filming together everyday really does bring everyone together," bam says.
"yeah everyone pushes each other to do crazier stuff and push our limits so its always fun when were together," ryan adds.
"i bet. you really can see the chemistry on screen. now steve-o i have to comment on the new look, im guessing this must have been a skit for the show," tyler says, gesturing to steve-os bald head and lack of eyebrows.
"yeah dude!" steve-o laughs loudly, "we got really drunk one night and we were all throwing around crazy ideas and i just thought, wouldn't it be fucking funny to be fully waxed?"
"i wouldnt say its your strongest look but at least its funny," preston laughs. the crew laughs before the next question.
"it is. a lot of the skits are funny but im led to believe theres also some more skill based or more stunt based skits," josh says.
"yes - having a lot of skaters on our crew means we can do some fun stunts. we had tony hawk and matt hoffman come do what we call 'the loop' with bam and bells," johnny says.
"so bam and arabella, bella if thats okay, how was it skating with the hawk?" josh asks.
"oh bella is fine. working with tony was so cool, ive looked up to him for ages now and he really is a good teacher. though doing the loop with bam, like both of us working together on it, really was a big help," i say, trying to make sure i get all my points across.
"yeah like tony has great advice but all of us actually doing it and like learning from each others runs was really good to make us get it done," bam explains.
"and tony definitely enjoyed working with bells... and bam," dave says.
"what do you mean by that?" josh asks.
"oh just that tony might've had a small crush on our bells here," ehren continues. my eyes widen in fear.
"really? bella what was that like?" tyler asks.
"uh - well - tony is like one of my i-idols and honestly he just felt like an old friend. i think we'll uhm we'll continue to have a good friendship," i say, falling over my words slightly. i hoped that the interviewers would pick up on my anxiety following the topic and drop it.
"he seems like a great guy then. now weeman - last season we saw a lot of your skating skills, do we have more of that content this season?" josh asks, tactfully changing the subject. i sent him a silent thank you.
"yeah, theres some fun skating stunts but from that we also did some motercross stunts with a little dirtbike on an actual track - that probably is one of my coolest stunts," weeman says.
"yeah though there was a point where you almost died," preston says.
"yeah me and preston were dressed evel knievel and doing jumps with read motocross riders and one of them jumped at the same time as me and was like a foot from landing on me," weeman says. the interview lasts for another 20 minutes until it ends. we say thank you to tyler and josh and jeff piles us back into the vans.
"okay guys next stop the airport," he says climbing into the front.
