Darius Bowman was intensely focused on his game. It was supposed to be impossible to beat. But, he never was one to give up. But, everyone was saying it's impossible to beat. Yet, Darius was SOOO close. He was almost at the end! He just has to get passed the stupid T-Rex. He can forget about NPC guide. The idiot was going to get eaten in a minute. He was busy trying to escape the Velociraptors and T-Rex.
Maybe I can use the river to cover my scent and sneak past them.
He heard a growl. He turned and saw the T-Rex standing above him. Darius knew what was about to happen. "Crap." The teen hit pause on the game so that way he wouldn't get eaten.
Darius sighed and took off his VR headset, the world of reality coming into his view. His room and his computer reminding him that he is not on an Island full of Dinos, he is a 16 year old kid trying to win tickets to Jurassic World. He hears his door open and he sees his 18 year old brother, Brandon.
"Hey D." The older teen sits on his brother's bed. "Beat the game yet?"
Darius scoffs. "Nah man. I can't get past the Rex. I'm missing something. I just don't know what."
"Yeah, well, don't get too worked up about it. I know Mom promised to take you to Jurassic World. Believe me, I want you to go. But even the pro gamers say this game is impossible to beat." Brandon loves his brother. He doesn't want to see his him get hurt again.
"Everyone said that it was impossible to beat the best football team in the school district, but we still beat them." Darius was a QB for his High School football team. It was a 2 point game, and Darius KNEW they were going to win. He has always been good at reading a situation and when there was a chance, he can call an audible. He threw the winning touchdown pass to his brother, who played WR. They felt like they can do anything.
"This isn't football bro." Brandon knew how bad Darius wanted this. And he wanted it for his younger brother. Both teens never really had a whole lot of lucky breaks. But if one of them had a chance, the other would cheer their brother on. "Why don't you focus on the scouts? That will get you into collage, and once we get to the NFL, we could play together and buy a ticket."
Darius knew that his brother was trying to help. He was lucky to have a brother like Brandon. "That would take too long. This is the only way."
Brandon sighed. "Yeah man. I know." The older brother got up to leave, but before he shut the door, he looked back. "Don't stay up too late. I don't need Uncle Josh to nag me to death because my younger brother was playing video games."
Darius had finally given up trying to figure out how to get past the Raptors and Rex. He had tried to remember everything his mom had taught him. She used to work at a fossil site, and studied raptors and rexes. He wished he had payed attention more. He eventually got too tired, and went to sleep.
It was around 2 A.M. when he woke up with an epiphany! "Wait a second!" he whisper-shouted. He had finally remembered something his mom taught him when he was younger. He and Brandon used to fight a lot. In fact, they still do. The problems always start with a lack of communication. For some reason, that clicked something in him. Turning on his computer, Darius was SURE that he could beat the game.
When he turned on the game, he was right back in front of the T-Rex, jaws ready to kill. Darius jumped out of the way. He ran away from the Rex, heading towards a pit of Raptor bones.
Where is it? Where is it?
He found what he was looking for. The vocal chamber of a Velociraptor. His mom had one in her room once, so he knew what it looked like. He picked it up, and turned to see the T-Rex behind him. Darius stumbles back, and blows into the chamber. Just as the Rex was about to eat him, 3 Raptors jump to defend the human from the Rex. Darius turns for a few seconds and sees a helicopter. He runs towards it, and they pick him up.
