The week went by quickly. It mostly consisted of Madison complaining and Kaldur going on missions with Alpha Team.

"Laura said she couldn't make it." Mr. Marvin, the orphanage keeper told Madison as he walked over.

"Oh yeah, I heard she's very busy with her new job these days." Madison replied.

Yeah. Busy fighting crime with the other new members of the Team.

Kaldur grabbed Madison's hand and pulled her slightly to the side. "It's getting late."

She smiled. "The kids will probably be getting home soon anyway."

He pulled her away from the crowds with a grin, heading for the dock.

"You're being very mysterious." Madison elbowed Kaldur softly.

Kaldur avoided eye contact and wordlessly pulled out a colorful thing of cotton candy. Madison squeaked excitedly and yanked it out of his hands.

"I love you, you know that right?" She asked, smiling happily as they pulled off their shoes.

"I do." He replied simply, sitting down at the edge of the pier.

Kaldur and Madison looked out over the water and Madison offered Kaldur a chunk of her cotton candy. She leaned her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes.

The two of them could have sat like that for ages.

"There are things I've noticed since coming to the surface world." Kaldur said quietly. "Sequences of tradition. I believe I've done it all in order."

Madison remained on his shoulder, listening as the Atlantean spoke.

"Find the most perfect person out there, fall in love with her, court her, move in with her..." Kaldur trailed off.

There was a small gurgling sound and Madison lifted up her head, but Kaldur quickly turned to her, reattaining the girl's attention.

He held out a small box and Madison's eyes went wide.

"Madison Kent Greene, will you marry me?"

"Holy crap, Kaldur." She smacked his knee. "You are so freaking smooth!"

Kaldur smiled humorously. "Is that a yes?"

Madison lunged forward and kissed him. "Does that answer your question?"

"Congratulations." Aquaman told them, scaring the absolute life out of Madison.

"When did you get here!?" She demanded.

Kaldur stood up, pulling the human girl with him.

"It is one of our traditions for my father to be present when I invite you into our family. My king volunteered to come because mine is deceased." Kaldur told her. "King Arthur has been like a father to me."

"And I am very proud." Aquaman added.

Kaldur pushed a ring onto Madison's finger and she stared at it for a moment. "This is actually happening."

"Yes it is." Kaldur smiled.

Madison kissed him again. "I love you, Kaldur'ahm."

"I lo-"

A red laser suddenly shot between Madison and Kaldur, slamming into Aquaman's chest and throwing him back.

"My king!" Kaldur yelled, running over to the man.

Madison snapped her fingers and shot a wave of blue energy into the water. It flew back to reveal a giant underwater ship for a split second before the water moved back into place.
