STEVE'S POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Out of all things, of all fucking things, even with everything that goes on in Hawkins, the last thing I expected to be doing on a Friday night was sharing a bed with Eddie 'The freak' Munson.
I mean, it had to be a stupid, impossible twist of luck that the only motel room left had only one double bed. Robin and Nancy had snatched the room with two beds so me and Eddie were stuck here.
Fuck
It's already 10pm by the time we get to the room, and we're both bloody exhausted from getting out of the upside-down, so there's really no other option than to sleep.
So there we stand, staring at the bed conflicted.
Munson makes the first move.
"Well, seeing you're the wounded one, you should probably get the bed."
The room is small with the bed in the middle of the room and a TV in front of it. There is no bathroom and a small stone, kitchen bench near the door with a single microwave sitting on top of it. There is one window directly across from the door and the wallpaper is a depressing yellow colour with some of it peeling in the corner of the wall. The carpet is firm and looks scratchy and stained.
"What? And let you sleep on this STD of a floor? No way," I say, "You take the bed."
He shakes his head, "How about we stop being pussies and both sleep in the bed?"
But he words it more of a statement than a question, so I mutter a quick agreement, throw Eddie's denim jacket he gave me onto the counter near the door, and hop onto the bed.
I had left my shirt on the boat when I took it off to dive into Lover's lake, so when we got back through the gate to Eddie's trailer, he grabbed a shirt for me before we took off. Now, I was wearing an oversized Metallica shirt that smelt strongly of smoke and cheap cologne.
The smell was a bit addictive, honestly.
Eddie slid into the other side of the bed in his Hellfire T-shirt and jeans. There was a single lamp next to my side of the bed, but I looked over to him before I flipped the switch.
"Lights on or off?"
"Off."
The room went dark.
