STEVE'S POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I wake up, Eddie isn't on top of me any more, and is lying on his back, asleep, as if nothing ever happened last night. I wonder if we separated on purpose, or if he just rolled over in his sleep.
I don't know why I even care.
And then I remember last night, all of it, and I decide that if anyone would know what to do about all of this, it would be Robin.
I sneak out of the door of the room trying my best not to wake Eddie. I walk down the motel hall with no shoes on until I reach room 182, where Robin and Nance are. I knock twice before Nancy opens the door in a plush bathrobe and her hair smelling like coconut shampoo.
I take a look at their room behind the open door. It was significantly bigger then ours, with two seperate beds, a set of shelves, and evidently, an actual bathroom.
"Jeez, what did you get, the premium suite?" I say, leaning against the doorframe.
"Steve, how'd you sleep?"
"Fine," I say, which reminded me of why I was there in the first place.
"Is Robin here?"
Nancy motions for me to come in and points over to the bed next to window, where Robin is snoring horrendously with one leg hung over the side of the bed.
Nancy and I shared a smile like we were about to burst out laughing, which we probably were.
I kneel next to her face and tried to shake her awake.
"Heyyy, Robin wake upppp. Come on, up up up," I say clapping my hands in front her face.
She groans and rolls over pulling the sheets over her head in one awkward motion.
"Gotta talk to you bud, kinda urgent," I say, and after a few trys, she rolls over to face me and very bitterly mutters a 'Whattt.'
I grab her by the arm and pull her out of the room and into the bathroom down the end of the hall.
"What could be so utterly important that you awakened me from my royal slumber," she whines as I shove her into the empty bathroom.
"Can you just tell me what the fuck is wrong and why we're in this disgusting place?"
I lean my back against a wall near one of the sinks where Robin washes her face, using one hand to splash water and the other to push back her bangs. I sigh, I don't even know where to begin. So I push it out all at once.
"Look, so- what.. um. Shit," Is my best attempt, so I try again.
"I didn't really know what to do or where to go with the following information, so, like, I just went to you and I-"
I don't think I can say it. Why am I such a mess?
Robin's face has gone from pissed, to tired, and now to concerned.
"Look, I know I'm amazing and everything," she says, "but I'm not exactly the best at helping with, like, major important stuff, and this kinda sounds important so-"
I cut her off, "Robin, trust me, you are the only person who I think can deal with this. I love you, Rob. Platonic with-"
"A capital 'P', I know big guy," she says, almost choking on her words.
I run a hand through my hair and force myself to get the words out. I had to. I needed to.
"I like someone. Like, really like someone," I say, avoiding eye contact with Robin.
"Is that it?" She says, "I mean, you like every girl that walks past yo-"
"No. It's not, it's different. It's like, this person-"
"This person?"
I think the ball finally dropped.
