Bella and Layla just stared at each other while Logan looked between the two of them. Not a word was spoken. Bella was in shock of seeing her childhood friend after so long and Layla was surprised to see her so soon. Nobody knew what to say. Until Layla broke the silence.

"I'm sorry Bella." and she threw a smoke bomb on the ground which immediately released a thick cloud.

"No, Layla! Wait!" But it was too late. When the smoke cleared, Layla and Logan and Zima we're nowhere to be found.

Bella just stood there dumbfounded. She didn't move until she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned to look at Alice.

"What happened Bella?"

Bella just looked at her still in shock.

"What's wrong?" Alice asked again.

"I just saw Layla. She's one of the Night Hunters." Bella was able to breathe out.

Layla entered the apartment through the window. She immediately started removing her gear and going to the bedroom. She changed into some comfortable clothes and sat down on the bed. Zima put her head on her lap.

"Was that Bella?" Logan asked as he entered.

"Yes" was all she said and she started petting the wolf.

Logan sat next to her and put his arm around her. "Maybe you should go talk to her, catch up. You haven't seen each other in years. Maybe you should take advantage of this."

"I can't." Layla said softly. "It's been so long, I can't face her after everything. Besides, getting close to her would just put her in danger. I can't let her get involved. Also, we have other things to worry about. Now we know were to look for the big boss. Unless he lied about it."

"No he wasn't lying. I can tell when someone is lying. We should still check it out. But please think about seeing Bella. I've heard you cry in your sleep and say her name. I know you miss her. Don't do it for her, do it for you."

Layla wanted to argue, but she knew he was right. She did miss Bella, but she lived a dangerous life now. She can't drag her into this life. With how danger prone Bella was, Layla just knew she might need some protection. But Layla had a mission and she couldn't afford to have distractions.

"After this is over, I'll think about seeing her, but now is not the time. I'll talk to her when the circumstances aren't life threatening."

Logan smiled and kissed her forehead. "That's all I'm asking. For now, we will focus on finding the son of a ***** who messed up our lives."

But little did they know, a certain, nosy, danger prone someone was going to try and look for them.

Bella paced her room, her thoughts still on earlier. She still couldn't believe what she saw. It was Layla after all. She was attacking those gangs. She was putting herself in danger every night. She was running around with a wolf and another guy fighting dangerous people. Bella didn't know what to think. She was glad that Layla was back and alive, but she was also worried about her because of her nightly activities. She kept thinking that she might get hurt, or worse, killed. She has to talk to Layla, know what happened through all these years, try to help her.

Edward intercepted her from her pacing. "Bella, please tell me what happened. I can tell something is on your mind."

Bella looked at him and said "I saw the Night Hunters."

Edward looked at her with shock and worry. "Are you hurt? What happened?"

"I'm fine, but they beat up a whole gang. But that's not why I'm shocked. One of the hunters, she is Layla."

"Are you sure?" He asked her.

"Yes I'm sure. I'd know her face anywhere. But she ran away before I could talk to her. I have to find her."

Edward looked as of he was thinking. "Do you want me to help you?"

"Yes, she probably doesn't want to be found so I will need your help."

Edward nodded. "Okay. We'll look tomorrow. It's late and you need to sleep."

Bella looked at the time and realized it was late. As she lay down in bed, her thoughts drifted to Layla. She thought with determination that she would find Layla. She would reconnect with her friend and get the answers she needed.

But it isn't easy to find someone who doesn't want to be found. Especially if they are trained for things like going off the grid.
