Chapter 5- Part 1

Two days later, New York

Abhimanyu

Abhimanyu watches in awe as Akshara's face lights up the moment she sees the Central Park...

Two days earlier, when he had told Akshara about their trip, she said a straight NO, her point being that nothing of this sort was mentioned in her job description... 

Abhimanyu tried to offer her a few perks and even a bonus, which he knew was not a very good move but she still refused...

The next morning, he was surprised to see Akshara waiting for him in his office, early in the morning...

And before he could say anything, she spoke up "I'm ready to accompany you to New York...if that's okay..." 

Abhimanyu was delighted but at the same time he wanted to know the reason behind this change of mind. 

"I just wanted to ask.... if..." Akshara spoke up again, hesitant and reluctant to say the words...

For some reason, Abhimanyu understood and he completed her sentence "Yes, your bonus and other perks that I mentioned are still on the table. We'll leave tomorrow" 

She nodded and left the room and Abhimanyu smiled, genuinely smiled! 

The next day, he saw how Akshara's eyes widened as they took their seats in the business class of the plane...

The journey was pretty boring with Abhimanyu working on his presentation and Akshara reading a book...

Abhimanyu noticed how Akshara was reading a book on Marketing, her interest and attention on the book completely...

A few hours later, Akshara dozed off and as Abhimanyu saw her drifting off, he noticed a slight blush on her cheeks that made her look like an angel...

They landed early morning according to New York time and went straight to their hotel...

Abhimanyu could notice the jet lag affecting Akshara and so he dropped her off to her room before going to his own...

That afternoon, they met an existing client for lunch and the meeting went on smoothly...

But there was one thing that was troubling Abhimanyu...

Akshara had been really quiet over the past two days. When she was quiet the previous morning, he thought she was nervous about the flight, and later he thought it was the jet lag...

But now, even after a good nap and lunch, her face had not regained that smile...

He wanted to ask what was wrong, but she made no effort to interact with him, other than the necessary official communication...

So, after lunch, he took her to Central Park...

Abhimanyu watches in awe as Akshara's face lights up the moment she sees the Central Park...

For the first time in two days, he sees the Akshara that he has come to admire...

"Thankyou" Akshara turns towards him "I've always dreamt of coming to this place and you've made it possible, so thankyou" she smiles warmly... 

Abhimanyu smiles back as he heart does a flip!

The next two days pass in a blur... 

Abhimanyu and Akshara get really busy with the investors' meeting that last for hours and hours...

Even though Abhimanyu really wishes to take Akshara out again and make her happy, the schedule doesn't allow them the time to explore the city...

But then, at the end of the meeting, the investor Mr. Sabarwal, invites them both for his 30th wedding anniversary celebration...

While Abhimanyu is relieved to get some time off from work (which he never minded earlier, but now he wanted some free time with Akshara) he was also irritated  that he would have to tolerate Trisha again!

Trisha, Mr. Sabarwal's daughter had out of the blue, come for the meeting... 

And the moment Abhimanyu shaked her hand and she held it for quite some time, inappropriate according to business ethics, he sensed that she had something else on her mind... 

During the lunch and coffee breaks, she had tried to talk to him continuously, talking about Wharton, from where both him and her had completed their MBA, thankfully not the same year!

It took a lot of effort for Abhimanyu to shut her up...

And now all Abhimanyu wants is some time with Akshara...

Since the party is going to be a black-tie affair, Abhimanyu takes Akshara to a personal designer to get her a party gown... 

While she had wanted to refuse, she knew that the party was a big deal and she didn't want to embarrass her boss with her mediocre clothing...

After spending two hours in the boutique, they return to their rooms and get ready for the party...

Abhimanyu and Akshara simultaneously step outside their rooms and their eyes meet in the corridor...

Akshara's black satin gown, floor length and halter neck, completely compliment Abhimanyu's black tuxedo and bow tie... 

Abhimanyu sees Akshara and it's as if the time stands still... 

Her hair, falling in curls, her nude makeup and her angelic smile take his breath away.

It takes him a lot of effort to not run to her and kiss her...

He tries to calm his heartbeat and looks at Akshara again, who seems to be equally mesmerised by him...

Her breath is heavy and panting and a deep natural blush covers her cheeks... 

As they walk towards each other, Abhimanyu speaks up first "You look beautiful Akshara"... and extends a hand...

She blushes and takes his hand and they walk away together...

This was entirely Abhimanyu's point of view, the second part would be Akshara's.
