Chapter 14

Abhimanyu

Abhimanyu smiles as he reads Akshara's message 

I miss you too Abhi, sooo much!

Now, don't get so busy that you forget to even eat something, okay? 

It's been just 6 hours since he last saw Akshara but he can't help himself! He's been missing her so much and he's made sure he tells her that over and over again. In fact, he has now started doubting how he ever survived before her! 

With a final look at her message, he smiles again before changing his expressions to tackle what was about to happen in a matter of minutes. 

He had received a call from his team that Mr. Sabarwal was threatening to pull off the deal that they'd been tirelessly working on. He wanted to meet Abhimanyu urgently and that is why he had to leave Akshara and her family behind even when he didn't want to. 

Abhimanyu straightened out his tie and stepped into the conference room where Mr. Sabarwal was already waiting for him, an arrogant smirk reflecting on the latter's face. Abhimanyu walked in with that confident stance, his poker face giving out absolutely nothing!

"Mr. Sabarwal" he nods and offers his hand but the man arrogantly ignores it. 

"Let's keep the formalities away Mr. Birla, I'd rather not waste my time" 

"Sure Mr. Sabarwal. But looks like along with the formalities, you've even kept your manners and decency away, which I don't have a problem with" Abhimanyu smiles. 

"How dare you Abhimanyu?

I have had enough of your nonsense!

First you insulted my daughter and now you're insulting me? 

I will make your company pay for it, every fucking penny till you beg for mercy!"

Abhimanyu lays back in his chair and crosses one leg over the other "Are you done?" 

"This was just the trailer Abhimanyu. I hold the cards in this game and you better accept that. 

Now you have two options-

You apologise to my daughter, fire that goddamn secretary of yours, what's her name Akshara, the one you insulted my daughter for" 

Abhimanyu snarls as his Akshara's name is mentioned.

"Yes, you will fire that goddamn secretary of yours, and this deal will only continue on my terms.

Or, I can pull this deal off right away and you can take your billion-dollar plan and go begging to someone else!"

Abhimanyu gets up and walks towards Mr. Sabarwal. He bends down closer so that they come face to face and then in a tone that is equally calm and chilling he whispers "Do not ever. I repeat, do not ever dare to take Akshara's name in this manner or you won't walk out from this place with all your limbs intact" 

He then straightens up "And as far as your conditions are concerned, let me tell you a story first. 

A desperate woman walks into the office of a man who she clearly knows is in love with someone else. She then throws herself at him, desperate to get his attention and what not and when he denies, as a decent man should, she threatens him.

Now what this woman and her army don't realise is that that man didn't reach where he did by being stupid. And oh, the best part you see, is that that man's office has cameras that capture every fucking thing" he smiles and watches as the colour fades away from Mr. Sabarwal's face. 

"So I'll extend you the same courtesy you did to me. I'll give you two choices.

Either you accept all my conditions for this merger, throw your daughter off anything related to this deal and walk out from here with the little shred of dignity you have remaining,

Or you can pull off this deal like you said and all the news channels here in India and New York can watch a live show of why this merger was actually pulled off."

"You wouldn't dare!" Mr. Sabarwal screams. 

"Try me" Abhimanyu smirks, knowing he has won. 

Mr. Sabarwal walks out in anger as Abhimanyu laughs and speaks up "Don't let the door hit you in the face on your way out" 

The very next moment, Dhruv, the Legal Councellor of the company walks in. 

"I was told the CEO's turned a little soft these days" he chuckles "but looking at the face of the man who just walked out from here, I'd say those were just rumours"

"The "soft" as you say is just for that one person who's brought out that side" he smiles and leaves with Dhruv to discuss other matters.

Akshara

Akshara spent the entire day worrying about Abhimanyu and the emergency that pulled him back to Mumbai. 

Just as the clock strikes 11, she receives a video call from Abhimanyu.

"Hi baby" his soft voice caresses her from hundreds of kilometres away. 

"Hi" she whispers. "Abhi, is everything okay?" 

"Everything's perfect" he gives her the "lost in your love" smile.

"But that call...?"

"Akshara, there's just one thing that I can't handle at the moment. And that is being away from you. Rest everything, I can easily take care of" 

"I love you" she blushes. 

"And I love you" he kisses her image on his phone. "I need a lot of these in real when we meet" he makes a baby face and she laughs "I'll think about it" she teases him. 

They spend the next two hours lying in bed, talking and giggling like teenagers who've just fallen in love for the first time...

Abhimanyu

Abhimanyu watches in awe as Akshara falls asleep while still being on a video call with him. He was telling her about a deal he's looking forward to when he heard light snores and realised that she's fallen asleep.

A tear rolls down Abhimanyu's eye as he watches her angelic face, looking at peace for the first time in a long, long time and in that moment, he closes his eyes for a minute, thanks the skies for giving him the greatest gift of life and then kisses his phone for one more time before falling asleep.
