LEXA

A uniform.

I hate it but at least this one is a little nicer compared to my last uniform, it was plain white and black. This one has a checked blue and white skirt, white shirt, red blazer and long blue socks. You might be wondering why I'm telling you this.

This place to me is prison, I'm brought here so that I can change and be disciplined. My mother knows how to hit the right buttons and I may have pushed her far enough. Bring me to Akadia so I can attend Akadia high school and stay with my grandmother who I hardly get along with. I've never been to this part of the world since I was twelve, which is an important factor because that means I won't cause any trouble with my friends. Friends I'm missing already.

"Stop chewing your gum." Mom hisses. I roll it out making a gesture of showing it to her as I toss it in the bin. We are waiting for the principle who just stepped out to get someone or something I wasn't listening.

"Mom..." maybe I should try one more time to beg and she can reconsider. "Please I can't stay here, I'll change, I promise." That's what I said before I crushed her Austin Martin in to our lake. She rolls her eyes probably thinking the same.

"Oh, so you agree with boarding school now?" that shuts me up. "I didn't think so."

The door opens, "sorry hope I didn't take long." She takes a seat and looks at me. "I hope the rules are clear we don't tolerate much at this school we expect nothing but the best from our students." When she notices I won't speak she turns to my mother who is distracted by her phone. "Is there anything else madam?"

"If that is all then I'm taking my leave now." We stand up, walking out of the office with my head down. As we stand in the hallway while mother says her goodbye, reality sinks in.

Once the principle leaves us again. "Mom please."

"No."

Tears fill up in my eyes, this will be a long year. "This is unfair."

"Glad you realize that," she turns on her heel and walks away. "Oh, Lexa if I hear one more complaint from the school I will take away everything, including that car of yours, now smile and enjoy."

"After a year, I can come back."

"If you're good, maybe even before the year ends, my love, you know I'll miss you right."

"I know mom." With a kiss on my forehead, she's gone.

So this is it, I'm here alone in this rug of a school. My account is blocked so I can't even get on a plane to Ibiza. Don't know how long miss principle has been gone, she's supposed to come and show me to my class. I don't know why she prefers doing it herself. "Hey you?" a voice calls, out of instinct I turn in its direction. "What are you doing out of class?" her blonde hair bounces with every step. Rolling my eyes I look away, where is that woman anyway. She kept walking out since we got here. Her heels make noise as she seems to get closer. "Young lady don't pull your attitude on me, what are you doing, here?"

What does she think I'm doing? building rocks?

"Waiting." That's all I say and it doesn't look like she's pleased with it.

She scoffs before looking me up and down. Probably checking if I have the correct uniform. "Adjust your tie." Our eyes meet briefly as I do what I'm told. Wouldn't want to cause problems on my first day. Mom would flip.

"Miss Griffin, glad you're here." Principle Reyes says, joining us. It's then I drop my defiant eyes to the ground. "This is our new student Lexa Komhedas, she's actually in your class." When I look up the woman has a frown on her face, she meets my eyes and glares.
