Her Teacher

Chapter 14

LEXA.

After sunshine comes thunder.

Clarke called me after I left last night. Someone took a picture of us kissing at the airport and before I could even breathe. Echo blow my phone with texts, informing me about the situation at hand. We are just trying to get a hang of things and then this happens. It's a good thing her face isn't front and center, hopefully it can all die down.

Ten minutes has gone by with no sign of Clarke. I'm nervous, she didn't answer my calls or reply to my million texts. I don't want to think anything beyond what I'm seeing.

Finally the door opens but it's not Clarke. Miss Reyes walks in with Mrs. Green the chemistry teacher. The class goes quite, some going back to their seats.

"I have an announcement for you all." Miss Reyes says while Miss Green writes on the board. It's an exercise for us. "Miss Griffin won't be your teacher anymore. As we try to find her replacement, Mrs. Green will be there for you." what? She looks at Mrs. Green and leaves.

"Like your principle said I will be taking up the load that your former teacher left behind while we wait for your new teacher." She claps her hands dramatically making jump in my seat. "With that said, copy the exercise on the board. Don't make noise I'll be in the next class."

I'm buried in my thoughts I don't even hear Costia by my side. Until she starts talking. "Wow. Didn't see that one coming."

"Yeah."

"Anyway, want to work together on this?"

How long as Clarke known this? I mean she didn't say anything yesterday and is that the reason for not answering me? I check the time and we are still in the first period. Costia taps my shoulder to get my attention. Geez, can't she read the room. Don't even know what she said, I guess I could just agree. "Yeah." Just hope it's not porn I'm agreeing to.

The day goes just like that, during break I see Clarke coming out of the principal's office with a Man. They chit chat a little before he walks away. I walk up to her, looking around. Not a lot of people have seen the article here, even Luna who's ever on her phone hasn't seen anything.

We start walking towards the library together. It's the quietest place to talk. Less ears and eyes. "Hey?"

"Hey." Her voice is soft and sounds exhausted. Hiding behind the biggest shelf, I start to pretend to check for a book.

"Are you leaving because of me?" no response. "Don't you want to see me anymore?" once those words leave my mouth I realize how invested my feelings are for this woman. I'm scared that this maybe the end before I can even tell her I love her.

Her hands wrap around my waist. Leaning her chin on my shoulder. "That's not an option baby." Words that should make me feel better but my nerves are sky rocketing.

"Then stay." Turning in her hands. "You're literary the only teacher I can stand at this school."

Her smile warms me up. "Lexa..."

"No, I enjoy seeing you five days a week. Every morning and afternoons." Sighing softly, Clarke pulls back, stuffing her hands in her pocket. "This is your school, you don't need to go. The situation isn't even heated. Clarke people don't know it was you."

"Baby I can't be with you and be your teacher at the same time." Oh Geez, "Don't forget you'll still seventeen Lexa." So that's it? "Until you turn eighteen we can't share our story. And me leaving doesn't mean we're over."

"So you're not dumping me?"

"No."

We didn't have time to talk more, break was over and I had to rush to class promising to call later. Yes, I made sure she doesn't ignore my calls again.

The moment I saw my mom's car in the driveway I knew it wasn't good. I thought she would be across the sea for a workshop or something like that.

"Sup mom I thought you'd be in the air by now." She's sitting with my grandmother, as I approach, on the table lays the magazine. Left open for me to see. My mother looks so mad I have only seen her like this a few times.

"Of all the girls in Akadia, you choose your teacher."
