Chapter 17: WHAT?!

When Lucy woke up, she wondered about the cave. That cave is going to turn Natsu back to normal, Lucy thought.

She silently crept out of Natsu's tightly wrapped arms. She got ready to go inside the cave.

"Alright! Let's go!" Lucy whispered.

When Lucy left, he started having a nightmare.

Natsu felt like he suddenly lost control of himself, and he stabbed Lucy.

"I'm sorry, Natsu. You will now have to live by yourself, but I have no regrets," Lucy choked out. Blood was soaking out of the wound.

Fresh tears were ruining down both their faces.

"Please don't leave, Lucy," Natsu cried out.

Lucy smiled weakly, "I have accomplished my goal. Goodbye, Natsu Dragneel," She kissed him, and then turned into glowing particles.

Natsu stared in sadness, his irises swimming in the sea of white. Endless tears streamed down his face.

"LUCY! NOOOO!" Natsu cried.

"Lucy!" Natsu yelled. He woke up from his nightmare. He frantically searched around to find her, but no trace. Realization hit him, his eyes growing wide.

He got up and ran towards the cave. When he got there, Lucy had cuts and scratches all over her body and was panting hard. Monster bodies littered the floor.

She got that strong?! Lucy's chest heaved up and down.

"Nat-" she fell on the floor unconscious.

"Lucy?" Natsu asked. He walked back to the camping place where Happy was waiting.

"What happened?" Happy asked, eyeing Lucy worriedly.

"Lucy tried to fight the monsters, and she beat quite a lot of them. They finally overwhelmed her when I saw her outside the cave, trying to catch her breath," Natsu explained.

"Natsu~, Lucy's heart isn't beating," Happy cried out. Tears rimmed his eyes.

"WHAT?!" He yelled. He put his head down on Lucy's chest and listened. No heartbeat. He put his fingers on her neck. No heartbeat.

"Dammit!" Natsu yelled in frustration. He opened Lucy's mouth and put his lips to hers, giving her air. He pushed down on her chest. He soon felt a steady drum-like heartbeat. He sighed in relief.

"Lucy isn't dead, right?" Happy asked.

Natsu shook his head, smiling at the little blue exceed. "She's just fine," He answered as he pat his head.

Happy's frown quickly turned into a smile. "Aye, sir!"

Lucy turned in her sleep. She yawned and woke up.

"You guys are so loud," She said.

"Well, yeah! That's us!" Natsu yelled out.

"Aye, sir!" Happy accompanied.

"Idiots," Lucy scoffed, then smiled.
