We woke up in the park and ride. When we stood up I saw a police officer walking around.
"Oggie, wrap up your sleeping bag," I ordered as I hurried with mine. We tucked them into our backpacks and hopped the fence. We ran on the roofs of a few buildings, then rushed down the fire exit of a bar.
"That was close," Oggie said.
"Agreed...To close."
"Lets loop back to the ally and get our bikes," Oggie offered. We keep our bikes in Concord because there's more pavement and we were only gonna be in Webster for a day or two.
When we got to the ally a man with a beer walked outside and sat down. He eyed us and I put my hand in my pocket to grab my swiss-army knife, but Oggie shook her head. We ducked under the tarp behind the old dumpster and crawled through the crawl space into the old abandoned building. Down stairs is where we got our bikes. Then we walked out to the front door that we sneaked out of (it's disguised as an old nail salon front. I mean, who would go get their nails done in a sketchy looking abandoned building, right?). We started pedaling down to Main street.
"What do you want to eat?" I asked Oggie as we stopped at an open spot.
"How about pizza? It would last us all day," she replied.
"Good idea," I said
"We only need to raise about 15 dollars for a large cheese pizza," she said as put down a towel.
"What are we going to preform today?" I whispered, on occasion we will sing for money, mostly because it makes us laugh and people pay for it.
"How about Fireflies by Owl City?" she suggested.
"You would not believe your eyes
If ten million fireflies
Lit up the world as I fell asleep," I started.
"Cause they fill the open air
And leave teardrops everywhere
You'd think me rude but I would just stand and stare," Oggie added.
"I'd like to make myself believe that planet earth turns slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep
'Cause everything is never as it seems
'Cause I'd get a thousand hugs
From ten thousand lightning bugs
As they tried to teach me how to dance
A foxtrot above my head
A sock hop beneath my bed
A disco ball is just hanging by a thread," we both sang as two people dropped $5 into Oggie's backpack.
"I'd like to make myself believe that planet earth turns slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep
'Cause everything is never as it seems" I said.
Oggie: "When I fall asleep"
Me: "Leave my door open just a crack,"
Oggie: "Please take me away from here,"
Me: "Cause I feel like such an insomniac,"
Oggie: "Please take me away from here,"
Me: "Why do I tire of counting sheep,"
Oggie: "Please take me away from here,"
Me: "When I'm far too tired to fall asleep," as someone dropped in a $20 bill.
"To ten million fireflies
I'm weird cause I hate goodbyes
I got misty eyes as they said farewell," we sang up until the end of the song.
"I'd like to make myself believe that planet earth turns slowly
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep
Because my dreams are bursting at the seams," a crowd had surrounded us by then, and we had raised $37.83. We packed up real fast so the police wouldn't get us for loitering. We biked down to a nice pizza place. When we got in I saw someone I never expected to see.
"Hey," he smiled, it was the same boy from the convenience store. The day I ran away.
"Hi," Oggie said, I was standing there wide-eyed.
"Hey, you're the girl from the convenience store I used to work at, right?" he smiled.
"Ya...sorry I was such a bitch," I said.
"It's fine, I had a long day too," he said.
"Wow, so you two know each other?" Oggie asked oddly.
"No, he was the boy at the store I told you about," I whispered.
"Well, what can I getcha?" he smiled.
"Large cheese pizza please," I asked.
"Sure...so where you living now?" he asked.
"Well, when are you off?" I asked.
"Phonix, we don't know him," Oggie hissed in a low voice.
"It's fine," I said.
"In 10 minutes," he said.
"Meet us with our pizza in 12 minutes in front of the old Ashburn ally," I said as I put down $20 and walked out.
"Wow, record time," Oggie said, irritated.
"What?"
"Making a dumb ass choice," she snapped.
"Oggie, it'll be fine. Have I ever let you down?" I asked.
"No," she huffed.
"Good. So let's go," I said as we got onto our bikes and started pedaling to Ashburn...
