I was running, my blond hair blowing behind me. I had stolen the fluorescent bike from the neighbor kid, Alice. I was getting the hell out of here, only my first foster home and I knew I wasn't going to do it...
I had been biking for about an hour when I stopped. I needed food. I checked my pocket and I had about $20 dollars.
"Water and a sandwich," I thought to myself as I pulled into a little store and walked inside. Water was $1 and the pb&j was $3.50 so that's $15.50 left.
"Screw it," I mumbled to myself as I dropped the food on the checkout counter. A teenage boy, probably 14, was there.
"Hey," he smiled at me cheekily.
"Don't even try," I said, raising an eyebrow.
"Fine," he mumbled as he bagged my food and handed it to me.
"How much?" I double checked. I had a feeling he was going to be an ass.
"$4.50," he smiled.
"Thanks." People always screw with kids but I can tell he knows the feeling of pure hatred toward the world and people.
"Have a nice night," he called as I walked out and got on my bike. I saw a lady about to dump a bag of clothes into a donation bucket.
"Hey! Hey, wait!" I called charging toward her.
"Yes," she smiled.
"Do you have a backpack in there?" I asked politely.
"Why, I believe I do. Would you like it?" she asked kindly.
"Please miss."
"Here," she handed me a nice backpack.
"Oh thank you. It's perfect," I smiled as I put my food in it and put it on. Perfect fit. I started pedaling away. Where to?-I don't know.
Life was awful where I was:
•Adopted
•Watched my parents get killed
•Being treated as a slave
•Picked on and laughed at (* look at picture)
"Screw you all!" I yelled as I walked out of the house.
"Be back before dinner," Marilyn replied bitchily at 4pm today. I had just checked my watch, 12:03am. I guess yesterday.
Fun.
No one cares about me so I'm just gonna have make it away from here. Then I'll see what I'm gonna do from there.
