When Kaminari saw Ojiro and Hagakure at the mall (less "saw" her and more deduced that she was there by floating clothing) he didn't think much of it. When he saw Tokoyami, Koda, Shoji, and Asui he had gotten a little nervous. When Iida, Todoroki, and Yaoyorozu walked by, Momo giving him a polite wave, he knew exactly what was going on. His entire class had come to the mall today. Great.
This wasn't TERRIBLE, running into his friends is never a bad thing, but today was not the day. That wasn't the problem here, the problem was that he was with his family, a family he loves dearly but they were notorious for embarrassing him any chance they got. Out of love, of course. The gods did seem to be a little bit on Denki's side as none of his family members seemed to see or recognize any of his classmates and the main person who would have recognized them, his grandmother, was no longer with them. Her disappearance was a blessing for multiple reasons since it meant his family was preoccupied looking for her and he was too busy to socialize with his friends, which he wasn't opposed to, but there's a certain person he didn't feel like he could face right now, especially with a band of people who will immediately, though unintentionally make a fool of him.
All of this came crashing down on his head when they did eventually find his grandmother and, to his horror, the resident golden boy Izuku Midoriya was with her. In hindsight, if anyone was going to find and help an old woman who had lost her family, it was him, but that didn't make Kaminari feel any better.

"Ah, there they are," Mika said, gesturing to a group of people who seemed to be looking around wildly, probably for her, except one who appeared to be hiding behind everyone else.
"Your family?" Izuku asked, to which she simply nodded, tugging on his arm which they had linked.
"Mama," a woman in the group noticed them first, coming forward looking grateful but immediately scolded her. "You were supposed to stay with Papa,"
"He wandered from me, how am I less trustworthy?" Mika said.
The woman rolled her eyes and turned to address Midoriya. "Thank you, my mama can get into trouble sometimes, I hope she hasn't done anything,"
Mika looked mildly offended but also amused as an older man, presumably her husband, came up next to her. "It's nothing, Mika-San is very nice," Izuku said kindly with a smile.
The woman looked unconvinced. "She's gotten to you already,"
"Don't talk so ill of your mother, I'm right here!" Mika said indignantly, but she obviously didn't care as much as she tried to seem.
Midoriya chuckled and turned to the other two that were with them, a young girl and someone hiding behind her. He smiled, giving her a little wave before realizing just who was standing behind her.
"Kaminari?" Midoriya questioned.
The boy cursed before stepping out from behind the little girl and smiling stiffly. "Heyy Midoriya," he said through gritted teeth.
"Wow, what a coincidence that you're here with-" Midoriya whipped his head around to the woman next to him and looked at her with dread. "Is this your mother?" he asked cautiously.
Kaminari blinked "Uhh, no, she's-"
"What's with that look? What's wrong with me, is that a bad thing?" The woman said with a sultry look.
"o-of course not!" Izuku said hastily, putting his hands up. "I just didn't think he liked his mother very much,"
"Huh??" Denki spoke up. "Why would you think that?" He asked incredulously.
"Uhh, well," 'I can't tell him its cause I read his diary, I really need to-'
Midoriya whipped around again to look at Mika, who smiled at him kindly. Soon, her expression shifted to one of painful understanding, she knew after all. She could read their minds. She knew everything, that's what Kaminari was so frustrated about in the pages of his journal, she knew everything without him even telling her. Cursed with knowledge they weren't supposed to have, and she felt just as guilty about it that Izuku did, Denki hadn't confided in them and it hurt knowing and being unable to help.
Midoriya opened his mouth to say something else but he didn't get the chance.
"Well I don't like her either, so that's totally fair," the woman said, huffing. "I don't care if she's my sister, she's a real piece of work,"
"Auntie..." Kaminari said exasperatedly, obviously, this wasn't his first time hearing this shpiel.
"yeah yeah, anyway," The woman grabbed Izuku by his shoulders and seemed to sparkle with excitement. "I'm Sonomi Sasaki, his aunt, I'm single, how do you know our little Denki-chan?"
"Auntie!" Kaminari called indignantly before turning to Midoriya. "Sorry about her, you can go if you want, I saw a group of our classmates heading over to where the decora shops are if you wanna go find the-"
Denki was suddenly shoved out of the way, not by his aunt, but by the little girl who was suddenly very excited. "You're Denki-ni's classmate? Are you Midoriya? He talks about you a-"
"HANA!" Kaminari cried, covering her mouth, in which she licked his hand.
"Now now, settle down now you two, here Hana, I bought you something," their grandfather said, handing Hana a bag.
"Hey no fair, you can't just bribe her and not me," Kaminari pouted adorably.
"No, but I can," Mika came forward, gesturing to the bag Izuku was still carrying. "I got you something,"
Denki gave her a witheing look. "And he's carrying it? don't use my friends for physical labor,"
"Oh, no, I offered to carry it," Midoriya said, cheerfully handing him the bag.
"He picked out a book for you," Mika said, needlessly proud for some reason.
"A book?" Kaminari questioned as he reached into the bag and pulled it out.
Izuku blushed in embarrassment and humiliation at his reasoning and panicked to think of an excuse. "You mentioned you lost your journal, so I thought you might want a new one," he said meekly, not meeting the other boy's eyes.
There was a long silence that made Midoriya dare to look up and see Kaminari gratefully looking at the book with a soft smile that nearly made his heart explode.
"That's really nice, thank you so much," He said, hugging the book to his chest.
"Yes yes, all nice, but your actual gift is still in the bag," Mika huffed immaturely.
Kaminari barely peaked into the bag before his face lit up again. "Woah, a plasma ball, nice!" he said excitedly, which left Mika standing even prouder than before.
As the rest of his family fell into conversations with one another, Kaminari stepped closer to Midoriya to talk with him.
"Thank you for the book Midoriya, it's really nice," he said graciously.
"Oh, please don't thank me, I just picked it out, Mika-san paid for it," Izuku said with his hands up.
"It's still nice, knowing you picked it," Denki smiled softly to himself and Midoriya couldn't help but let a smile slip onto his face as well, and courage flow into his system.
"Actually, Kaminari, I wanted to ask you something,"
"Hm?"
"Well I-"
"There you are Midoriya! And Kaminari, what a coincidence!" The two of them jumped, hearing someone call out to the.
It was Iida, obviously, but less obviously was Uraraka angrily walking up behind him and practically mauling him, jumping onto the boy's back and yelling about him "ruining" something. suddenly their entire class had spawned either to fight against Uraraka or to help her. everyone aside from Jirou, who came over to the two boys who watched the chaos in awe.
"Meeting the family huh," she remarked, elbowing Izuku hard. "I think you skipped a couple of bases there, buddy,"
