Midoriya didn't actually remember how he came to acquire the small, worn leather journal but he didn't really at first care. It was a simple looking book that had just was suddenly and randomly came into his posession and it just didn't bother him much. When Izuku had first realised he had the book, he was in his room, sifting through his school bag for the day's work and had found it among the rest of it's contents. He barely registered how he had never seen the book prior before cracking the book open to see if the pages were blank. As you may have guessed, the pages were not at all blank and almost the entire book was full.

Now, Midoriya didn't actually READ anything in the book, he just recognized that that the pages had writing on them and then closed it again, placed the book down on his night side table, and set off to do his homework like he originally intended.
