[Seattle, Washington. Thursday,
December 24, 2037.]After what seemed like an eternity, Y/n L/n finally reached her apartment and immediately set the cat down. 'Ugh,' she thought to herself and threw her jacket to the side as she looked at her hands in disgust. Frustrated with the damage done to her hands, she angrily stomped over to the kitchen and carefully cleaned her cuts. "You're going to be the death of me, I hope you know." She muttered to herself.
She scoffed while she dried her hands. She then found the stray hiding behind her couch, cowering away. Y/n crouched down to his level before pinching the bridge of her nose, "I'm going to go take a shower, so... please... please don't destroy anything." She practically begged him.
He watched Y/n as she disappeared into her bedroom for a moment and then walked into the bathroom, clothes in hand.
Y/n started stripping off her clothes, discarding them on the floor. The faucet handle of the tub was cool in her hand as she turned the water to come through the shower head, having moved back over to its edge. She shifted her appendage to flick her fingers in the water to check the temperature. It was just right; not too hot, not too cold.
Stepping under the spray of the shower relaxed her, she let out a sigh of relief as the comfortably warm water fell on her.
Turning the water off, she grabbed her towel as she contemplated how she was going to manage to gain her new pet's trust and affection over the new few days. She was going to have to go to the store, there was no doubt of that. She was going to have to purchase a litter box, cat food, toys, anything for the stray to see that she was only trying to take care of him.
She began to dress in baggy sweatpants and one of her old comfortable t-shirts, her hands running through her still damp hair to style it somewhat. She then hung up her towel to dry, finally exiting the bathroom and threw her used clothes into the laundry basket right outside the door.
"Where did that little guy go?" She rested her hands on her hips and then began to search throughout her small apartment in search of its new occupant. It didn't take long for Y/n to find the stray on the couch.
"There you are..." She smiled to herself and, upon hearing his owner's voice, he propped himself up and stared tiredly back at her. "That reminds me... we need to give you a name." She ended up sitting on the couch with him. She was hesitant at first, but she soon warmed up to him when she saw that he wouldn't try to hurt her this time.
"What about the name 'Toshi'?" No response. "Ryota?" Y/n pressed on with every name that came to mind. "Yuzuki?" She tilted her head to the side while the feline proceeded to let out a quiet, raspy meow.
"Alright, I guess that's the winner." She made a note to herself to remember his name and then proceeded to put one of her favourite scary movies on.
She pressed play on the remote and the introduction fills the screen. Something rustles behind her, prompting Y/n to look over to see Yuzuki moving over, resting his head on her arm.
This continues for another half hour. Given that Y/n has seen this film multiple times, she didn't scream or cover her eyes with a blanket. She mainly focused on making her commentary throughout the film, not-so-cleverly predicting the deaths of the characters and scolding them. Yuzuki, however, nuzzled deeper into her arm and was prone to jump when the music picked up during the climax of certain scenes.
When Y/n laid down on the couch, Yuzuki surprisingly jumped up on her chest, snuggling into her. She began to pet him, and in response, he started purring. 'We've come a long way since we first met.' She thought. She then placed a gentle kiss on his head. "Goodnight, Yuzuki." Y/n mumbled, falling asleep.
