[Seattle, Washington. Friday,
December 25, 2037.]Y/n L/n's heart sunk as Yuzuki brought to her attention that he was, in fact, not injured. Peeling her eyes away from the neko, she slowly looked back at Hideaki Koike's slumped body. "He's... dead?" She already knew the answer to her foolish question, but couldn't help but have the heavy burden of the death of her ex-boyfriend although it was Yuzuki who did the final blow.
"Yes," the neko's voice was laced with not a single ounce of remorse. "He is gone." He further clarified.
"You didn't need to kill him..." She avoided his gaze and felt sick to her stomach. She wanted to throw up, being thoroughly and utterly disgusted by the actions of Yuzuki who began to feel upset and frustrated with his owner when she wasn't relieved by his actions.
"He wouldn't have stopped. He was going to hurt you and I was the one who stopped him," Yuzuki tried to justify himself. He paused for a moment before scooting forward to get closer to Y/n and took a deep breath to calm himself. "It was the only way for him to stop... surely you must see that..." he whispered.
Y/n remained quiet for the next few moments as her thumb grazed against an old scar from when she first met Yuzuki or, more specifically, when he scratched her. She never would have predicted this to happen of all things. 'If only I knew then...' her eyebrows furrowed in deep concentration as her mind racked together. "But..." she trailed off and spared Koike another glance, looking at him sympathetically. "Why?" Y/n inquiries.
It wasn't the smartest decision Yuzuki has made, he will admit to that, but he acknowledges the indisputable fact that Koike would not let Y/n have a single night's rest when he was still around.
"I did it for you," Yuzuki replied, sternly, and felt himself becoming more bitter the more that his owner resisted him. "I... I did it for you." He repeated and stammered over his words but refused to look away from Y/n as he stared at her, silently begging for her validation.
"We could have avoided the confrontation. You should have woken me up as soon as you heard him... I would have talked to Koike directly."
"Why? So he could hit you again?" Yuzuki scoffed. He could not believe what he was hearing.
"No!" Y/n loudly protested, immediately denying such an assumption whilst a wave of anxiety crept on her as she reminisced when Koike slapped her over Yuzuki getting close to her. "I would have kept my distance," she buried her head in her hands. "Maybe talked to him through the door just in case something were to happen."
"It isn't worth the risk nor is he worth the effort." Yuzuki crossed his arms over his chest, his eyes piercing like sharp daggers. "I hope you aren't insinuating that you could have 'fixed' Koike." He clenched his jaw.
"Of course not...' Y/n whispered under her breath as she felt a lump form in her throat.
"He was getting in the way," Yuzuki said in a monotone voice. "He was rude to me from the beginning. He would look at me weirdly when you weren't paying attention. It happened right before you took me shopping with you. He was overly jealous, abusive, and toxic. Koike was getting in between us and didn't know how to control his childish behaviour." He finally let loose his opinion on her dead lover. No time better than the present to admit such a thing, after all.
Scooting away from the neko, Y/n let out a small whimper. She was never good with arguments. Going quiet was a knee-jerk response. She began to wonder if there was a warning sign during her and Yuzuki's first interaction, something telling her that he was a threat and dangerous from the start. Perhaps a fight or flight response reflex that she shouldn't have ignored. Y/n didn't regret taking him into her home, but she was starting to more so than ever.
"Can you at least look at me when I talk to you?" Yuzuki talked about the elephant in the room. He could have worded his demand a bit more delicately given that he just brutally murdered her previous lover. Y/n shook her head, hanging her head low. "No?..."
He pouted at her decision. Yuzuki hummed and then pulled her closer and engulfed her in his arms which prompted Y/n to tense. The neko played with her hair, running his fingers through it and smiling to himself. Gently resting his index finger under her chin, he slowly directed the waitress to meet his gaze. "There we go..." he brushed his thumb over her cheek, trying to calm her down as best as he can but to no avail. "No one is going to hurt you. Not when I'm around."
