[Seattle, Washington. Friday,
December 25, 2037.]Upon arriving at Y/n L/n's apartment, silence befell the main room. Only Yuzuki's heavy breaths echoed in the darkness, soon followed by a deep breath. Yuzuki took in the air deeply, filling his lungs generously before letting it out slowly. His eyes weren't yet accustomed to the lack of light, but there were still the white flickers sparking up in his vision, coming from having used too much force just now, a tingling sensation running through his fingers even now.
"N/n," he called out, calmly, without the hints of anger he had felt hours ago but she didn't answer. Yuzuki then carefully get her down on the couch only to find that she has been asleep, prompting his facial features to soften at the sight. Squatting down, he reached out into the darkness, refusing to turn on the lights to get a better look at her.
Gripping into her thigh, he shook, once, twice, but this only caused the h/c-haired girl to groan as a response. Yuzuki's ear appendages twitched back and forth, alert and bewildered. Though agile and careful, he didn't quite calculate the sound that his weight would make when colliding with the remaining area of the sofa which produced a quiet noise. It wasn't loud by any means but in the fragile silence that was easily overwhelmed by any slight sound above a few octaves, it was heard loud and clear.
In a chain of events that caused his heart to drop, Y/n began to shift in her sleep. "Sorry, sorry..." the neko apologized. He then sighed deeply, rubbing his sleeve over his tired face. He mewled as he yawned before Yuzuki left the room and came back opting for a baggy shirt and loose-fitting trousers.
Once he closes the door, Yuzuki walks over to the couch where he stared down at her in a pensive state of mind. He watched her grab ahold of a blanket and pull it over her head, letting her head sink into the fluffy feathered pillow. Barely opening her eyes, their eyes meet and Y/n watches as Yuzuki, knowing that he could read her like an open book. His jaw tightens, his hand twitching at his side as he stares at his owner. One beat, and then another. They don't say anything, Y/n isn't sure there is anything he can say.
Just then, Y/n mumbled a weak, "Go away, please."
At the feeble gesture, Yuzuki couldn't help but chortle before letting out a small hum. "No," he breathes roughly, taking his place on top of Y/n. "I can't do that... you should know this by now." This prompted the h/c-haired girl to sulk deeper into the covering, searching for comfort.
"It's freezing in here." She whimpered. Y/n felt the colonies of goosebumps erupting over her skin despite covering her entire body with a blanket.
"Well then... come here." Yuzuki removed the blanket from Y/n's figure and replaced it with himself. He drapes his heavy leg over here and places a hand on her back and cradles her against him. He is a thrumming pulse of warmth around her. Trying to find a comfortable position, Y/n nuzzled her head into the crook of his neck. "Your nose is freezing!" The neko hissed as she pushed her nose up against the hollow of his throat, making him flinch. Within the next moment, Y/n overheard Yuzuki laughing slightly, "Is that any better?"
Y/n didn't respond. She was not able to give him the time of day. He doesn't deserve anything. This gesture of affection was merely for her benefit and nothing more.
He settles on wrapping his arms around her waist once more for a hug, then pulls back for no reason other than to watch her groggily state fade into exhaustion. Her freezing once body which shook ever so slightly due to being outside for such a prolonged amount of time soon relaxed at Yuzuki's touch.
And, after much protest, Y/n closed her eyes again and took a deep breath, soothed by the strong, steady beating of a heart against her cheek. She leaned closer into it, into the warmth, and almost hummed in contentment when gentle fingers started combing through her hair. She melted into the touch and felt her heartache when it earned him the soft rumble of a familiar voice, whispering into her ear.
"Such a good girl..."
The ironic thing about the day he and Y/n formally met was not the first time Yuzuki had noticed the waitress. He had always noticed her leaving her work, both in his hybrid and feline form. He was always intrigued by her, fascinated by her. He didn't mean to hurt her during their first interaction. It was the last thing he wanted to do, honest. Even so, it is an indisputable fact that Hideaki Koike deserved to perish in the most agonizing way imaginable. When it comes to killing her ex-boyfriend, Yuzuki has no regrets.
He shut his eyes tight, not wanting to think about their past arguments at the moment since the two had just gotten back to their apartment. Upon reopening his eyes, Yuzuki focused more on Y/n and — at her pure and unconscious state — his heart was set ablaze as it began to pound rapidly. Planting a loving kiss on her forehead, "I love you so much..." he was partially able to confess his feelings even though the h/c-haired girl is currently unaware of what was happening.
He was so flustered and, at the time, he was thankful that Y/n wasn't able to see his humiliating and embarrassing behaviour. Yuzuki moved his shaky hands to her cheeks and brought her face closer to his own. Her cheeks were soft yet hot underneath his touch and he took notice of it immediately. He then moved his thumb along the bottom of Y/n's lip, tracing it and the soft skin felt foreign underneath his careful fingertips.
Yuzuki didn't waste another moment and then gently allowed his lips to collide with Y/n's, their noses were bumping against each other by accident. His stomach felt as if it was swarming with all the butterflies in the galaxy.
His eyebrows furrowed and eventually the heat of the moment began to fade when he found himself pulling away from Y/n's lips, not wanting to further than that without her permission.
A smile curves his lips, not forced or faked, but genuine. "Goodnight, my dear," he said quietly. "I'll see you in the morning."
