Managing to suppress a yawn, Y/n L/n looked over at Hideaki Koike and gave him a tired smile which he reciprocated. "Don't you need to work today?..." he quietly asked her, eyeing Yuzuki in the process.

"I can call in late," she was quick to reply. "Besides, I don't want you to take care of him alone." She added and then Koike chuckled in response.

"Yeah, well... I was never much of a cat person." He crossed his arms over his broad chest. Koike was shorter compared to Yuzuki's towering statue who only quizzically stared at the couple.

After a few minutes on a call with her work, Y/n let out a sigh of relief and nodded towards Koike — signalling that she was in the clear. "Alright," she grabbed her keys from the counter before turning her attention towards Yuzuki. "Let's go." The two started walking towards the entrance, but, noticing her boyfriend was not with her, Y/n stopped. "Koike, are you not coming with us?" She tilted her head to the side, pouting slightly upon realizing that she'll have to deal with her unfortunate situation all by herself.

He instinctively shook his head, "No, you two go on without me. I have to work anyway." He let out a sigh before approaching the exit, aggressively hitting Yuzuki's shoulder on the way out which earned him a scowl from the hybrid. This action went unnoticed by Y/n since she was preoccupied with saying her goodbyes to Koike.

She wrapped her arms around him, gently squeezing him, "I'll see you later then?" Her voice laced with hope.

"I hope so, we will just have to wait to see what my schedule will be like..." Koike sounded a bit disappointed as he thought about leaving her alone with Yuzuki, prompting him to side-eye the stray whilst hugging Y/n. Pulling away, Koike smiled down at his girlfriend — quietly reassuring her before leaving.

"I don't get what you see in that guy." Yuzuki was quick to voice his opinion on his owner's significant other when the two were shopping. "What do you mean by that?" She asked the hybrid while she kept her eyes on the items of clothing in front of her, searching for suitable ones.

Yuzuki opened his mouth to reply to Y/n, to tell her about Koike's disrespectful behaviour but ended up going quiet. 'She doesn't know.' He thought, dolefully. "Nothing..." he whispered.

Y/n hummed in thought before grabbing another pair of undergarments and putting it in the cart that she pushed around the store. "I think we're all set on clothes!" She said, happily. She beamed from ear to ear. He had a variety — of undergarments, shirts, sweaters, hoodies, and pants which ranged from typical jeans to sweatpants if he preferred those. Y/n was quite content with herself, to say the least.

"Can we go back home now?" Yuzuki looked over at his owner, hopeful.

Y/n shook her head which prompted Yuzuki to momentarily throw a temper tantrum via an angry flail of his arms. "I know... it's exhausting." She tried her best to relate to him. "What else do we need to get?" Yuzuki whined, resting his head on Y/n's shoulder.

Stepping away, she gave him a polite smile but it was her way of silently telling them that there are boundaries of hers that he should respect. "Well, don't I need to get you some other supplies? Like... I don't know... cat food? A litter tray?" She felt silly for asking, but she had to make sure that these things were necessities.

Yuzuki rubbed his face in exasperation, "No. I don't need anything like that." He huffed in annoyance. "There is not any logical reason as to why I should transform into that configuration of myself, especially since you know," he muttered to himself but then found himself slowly looking up to meet Y/n's gaze — his bitter eyes that piercing into her soul. "Unless you and that little boyfriend of yours intend to throw me out on the street again like I'm some animal." He took a step closer to her.

He leaned down — his face mere inches away from his owner's. "You wouldn't betray me like that, would you?" His eyebrows knitted together as his eyes searched hers, awaiting an answer. The coldness of his voice almost startled Y/n, how could such a thought possess him to get so mad? Y/n was quick to shake her head.

"No," she whispered before continuing to deny such an assumption. "I would never do that to you." She went on. There was no malice or mockery in her tone, just a relaxed posture, her e/c optics staring into his own in a bewildering manner.

"Good..." Yuzuki slowly stepped away, smirking as he did, and sauntered down the aisle of shirts.

For the remainder of their trip, Yuzuki's demeanour no longer deviated from that of a jovial child. It was bizarre, there was no denying that. Y/n didn't bother to mention the strange encounter but it still lingered in the back of her mind when she looked at Yuzuki. She feared that while he looked precious and harmless on the outside... there was something rotten and dark that was buried just beneath the surface.
