One day, Harriet saw an advertisement about the annual Zendaria Cosplay Convention. She, a big fan of cosplay, was of course excited to go. She went every year, and this year was going to be no different. Without hesitation, she made bookings to the convention. Last year, she went with a friend, but she found herself a boyfriend, so she had to go alone.

She waited and waited for the day to come, and come it did. The months flew by fast, January, February, March, April and May, all flew away in the blink of an eye. June was here and the convention was here too. She was excited to visit the convention, though there were fewer visitors this year to due the fears caused by the morphovirus. Nevertheless, she did not mind that.

The convention was as big as it always was, with stalls galore. Naturally, she went to her favourite stalls first to take selfies with cosplayers, and to find her friends. To her disappointment, she did not find them, but she did find a stall manager calling out to her.

"Hey! Hey you!"

"Me?" she asked, pointing at herself.

"Yes, you! Could you please cosplay for us? We're kinda short on cosplayers here."

"Cosplay for you? What's your characters?"

"Oh, we're a new video game company. We've just made a game about various elemental characters who are having a battle amongst each other. You know, the usuals. Our cosplayers are to dress up as the elemental characters, but we are missing one person for all the elemental characters to be complete. Are you interested?"

Harriet took a brochure and looked through it, saying, "Sorry, I'm not interested."

"Alright then, thank you for your time."

She left and looked for her favourite comic book store, which was located at the second level of the exhibition.

No one was there at the comic book store, as everyone was still at the stalls. Only she and the cashier were around.

"Hello," she greeted the cashier casually.

"Hello. Please feel free to look around."

And so she did. She walked around the large bookstore, and found a section of her most favourite series, a series of superheroes. So many volumes were there, a heaven for superhero comic book nerds such as she. She picked up a volume that caught her eye, and opened it to read. She noticed that she had read it before, and returned it back.

The shelves were arranged so that older books were higher up in the shelf, and so she continued looking, until she noticed that the top shelf was lined with merchandise. All the merchandise was the same; a mask of her favourite villain; a harlequin girl.

Interested was she, and she took a mask down and took it out from its box. With the mask on, she took out her phone to take a selfie of herself. She suddenly felt a strange sensation as her mind thought of criminal stuff.

"I should steal all these comic books," she thought to herself.

"No!" she thought back.

"I should take more masks."

"No!"

It kept continuing on and on, while she did not realise that her body was slowly changing. The mask grew attached to her face, merging and becoming her face, her hair, once long and straight, now were tied into two pigtails of different colours. Her blouse and jeans were turning into a rubberish one piece, tight and shiny. All that was happening while her hands were trying to steal the store's items, including a mirror.

Then did she only realise that she was changing, her short sleeves now covering her entire arm in colours of red and black, her hands covered with white gloves. She looked up and down herself and she was unrecognisable, no, she was recognisable. She was turning into her favourite villain! No, she is her favourite villain. She is Harley!

She suddenly stopped stealing and her body froze in place. Her mind was flooded with memories of the crimes she had done, and the time spent with her beloved boyfriend. What was she doing here? What... She suddenly remembered that she was to rob the convention!

Alas, she needed a weapon. "Yeesh, no weapons here," she said out loud.

"Do you by any chance have a weapon?" she asked the cashier, leaning closer and closer to the cashier.

"Uhh, no?"

"You want a weapon?" asked a male voice. She immediately turned around to see a big, plump man.

"Here's one. I found it from the toy section."

"The toy section..." she snatched the purple gun and glanced over it. "Alright, this'll have to do. I'll take it!" She took the weapon and ran away from the comic book store.

"Sir, that wasn't on sale. I have never even seen a toy like that in our area."

"Oh, that was my child's toy."

"Ah. Guess he'll need it back then."

"Oh, never mind. I can just buy one here, right?"

"How much for one?"

The cashier and the man continued to converse casually, not realising what chaos had ensued down in the exhibition stalls. What happened would surely go down in history.
