I lied down, stretched out across my white bed. I had just woken up from my slumber, deep in sleep I was. Now it's time to play.
Around the room I see my friends, all also on their beds.
"Wake up, rise and shine," I thought. "For the weather's fine."
I looked at the skies, perfectly normal, with the great big yellow thing in the sky shining down light.
As they all woke up, they gained a sense of mobility, though not completely at their own will. Some had people moving, walking in them, some had backgrounds, water flowing, trees swaying.
I said, to my neighbor beside me, "How are you tonight?"
"Fine, thank you. How about you?"
"Oh, great! Like usual, you know."
"Have you seen the new entries? Oedipus and the Sphinx, Las Meninas and Guernica."
"Yes, they are just across the room, so I don't think they can hear us."
"Well, we can't just barge over, we can't intrude, let's just watch, what's going in them."
"In Oedipus and the Sphinx, you see a man with a spear, and a woman, oh so weird."
"A woman? No, that's a sphinx. A woman's head and a lion's body with the wings of a falcon."
"See how she flies, I'm crying."
"In Las Meninas you see a little girl, with two ladies-in-waiting, so many subjects around her, and even a staring painter."
"You see that person exiting, I wonder who he is."
"Guernica you see various beings, flat as they can be, shapes are fused together, eyes are just a mess. Yet you see the meaning, inside all of this, the chaotic structure of the painting, highlights the worst in us."
"You see in your life, what do you see?"
"I can't look, for I don't have a head."
"I can't see too, can't turn around. Guess we'll have to just ask the others."
"No, thank you, no need to, ignorance is certainly bliss."
"Alright, it's quite fine with me, a mystery of who you are."
"Let's go to sleep, sleep once more, and wait for another night."
"Goodnight!"
From my bed I always remained, lying there, looking around. Nothing to do and nothing to say, back to sleep I go again.
