(Next Day)
Shadow had gone back to Team Dark's base to ask if Sonic had been there because he hadn't seen him anywhere all day since he left the house to buy breakfast
Rouge tells him he hasn't been there so he speeds off in another direction
He goes to every location he can think of from dusk till dawn until he decides to go back to Sonic's house to see if he had come back
He enters the house and calls out
[Shadowl
Sooooonic? Sonic you here man?
He checks a few of the rooms until he hears a vibrating sound followed by ringing
He walks towards the source of the sound and finds Sonic's phone ringing
The caller is a contact named "My Crush" with a few hearts at the beginning and end of the name
His stomach drops and his heart grows cold
He stares at the phone for 30 seconds but it feels like decades in the moment until the phone stops ringing
[Shadow's Thoughts]
No... my eyes are playing tricks on me right? they've gotta be
The phone dings again with a text message saying "Sonic?" with the same contact name erasing any doubt Shadow had
He breaths in and out shakily and just walks out of the house
He walks and walks never going any faster until he reaches Team Dark's base
He walks into his old living space and plops down staring at the wall facing away from the doorway
Rouge enters his room
[Rouge]
Hey Shadow yo-
[Shadow]
If it's not important can you wait till tomorrow to talk to me, I'm sorry I'm not trying to be rude I'm just really tired from running around all day
[Rouge]
Oh yeah no problem
Rouge sets Shadows phone on a desk beside his bed and leaves
(Next Day)
Shadow wakes up to a ringtone
He groggily flails his arm until he feels his phone
He picks up the call and answers
[Shadow]
Hello?
[Sonic (Call)]
Hey Shadow sorry I missed you yesterday I was at a friend's house
Shadows expression turns into a sad frown and tears start to form tears in his eyes
[Shadow]
I'm not feelin it today Sonic, sorry dude, I'll catch you in like a week or so when I feel better
[Sonic (Call)]
Oh sure no problem, I'm always here to talk to if you need me
[Shadow]
Thanks, see you
He hangs up the call as Rouge opens his door
