For nearly three days Tundra was asleep. She kept having nightmares of her sister being killed, herself being taken hostage, and her whole tribe going into war. When she woke up, she completely forgot that she was in the SandWing kingdom.
She stood up immediately, pain flashing threw her entire body. She could feel dried blood in between her scales, and her wings felt like wet tree leaves drooping as far as they could.
Well I'm seven now, a great hatching day gift for me...almost dying. She thought.
She suddenly remembered that Dune was thrown with her. Is she still here? Is she even alive?
Tundra looked behind her, and saw the little dragonet laying on the ground. For a moment Tundra thought Dune wasn't breathing, but as she looked closer, she saw her chest move. Dune was unconscious no doubt, but there was a puddle of blood underneath her. Tundra inspected her from head to tail. She had an open giant gash on her stomach that was still bleeding.
Quickly, Tundra found an abandoned sling on the ground and wrapped it around Dunes' wound. It stopped bleeding, but Tundra could tell Dune was in a lot of pain.
Tundra looked around looking for a water source. She knew that SandWings could go weeks without water, but IceWings couldn't. She tried to jump into the sky to fly, but her wings hurt too much. Not to mention she has slight talon gashes in both of them.
She slammed into the ground face first. Ow, that wasn't nice, world. Tundra scoffed at herself. She grumbled, and decided to try again, even though she expected herself to smush her face into the sand again.
No doubt, she hit the ground after trying again, but she saw a scorpion and a lizard scurrying along the sand. She killed both, ate the scorpion, and left the lizard for Dune.
Hours passed and her aching scales and wings did not feel any better.
Tundra was extremely thirsty and needed to find water, but she couldn't fly with her injured wings.
Tundra remembered the fight with Scorpion before she went unconscious. That's right, I'm animus! Tundra remembered.
She dug through the sand trying to find something she could enchant. Rocks, no. Tundra started getting frustrated. All she was finding was sand, sand, and more sand. At one point she hit her head on a rock, and yelped. She let out a frustrated growl. Is there ANYTHING i can use down here? Someone must've dropped SOMETHING over thousands of years, She thought to herself.
She kept digging and digging and digging. She finally came across a buried amulet. It had a black gem with a fire design on the bottom. It had a wing on both sides.
Finally, that will work perfectly, she thought. I enchant this amulet to remove any pain from whoever wears it.
She slipped the amulet on, and immediately the pain disappeared. She felt a weird feeling from the amulet as well, but she just figured it was from her magic. Much better Tundra thought with relief.
She flew into the air, remembered where Dune was, and darted for the nearest water source.
When she landed she looked around making sure there was nobody around, and drank for a good five minutes before heading back.
When she got back, she noticed the sun was starting to set. An IceWing in the middle of the night is a sitting duck for hostile dragons. Tundra thought. I need to bury myself in the sand, but still be visible for Dune if she wakes up.
She dug a big enough hole for her to lie in and piled sand on top of her. The only part of her that was visible was her eyes, and her tail, if she moved it.
