thea exited the chat, pulling the fluffy blanket closer to her body. even after speaking to heidi she still felt extremely anxious.

panicked, she ran her fingers through her hair, chewing on her bottom lip. after a few seconds of hesitation, she grabbed her phone again, searching for a specific contact.

her finger hovered over the dial button before she clicked it and held the phone to her ear. it rang for a few seconds before the other person picked up.

"hey thea!

"hello kai," she breathed out, almost with relief. this was the first time the two had physically spoken to each other since they met. now thinking about it, she wondered why the two never called at all.

"how...are you?" he asked, not sure how to start the conversation.

"yeah, yeah i'm alright thank you," she answered, "and you?"

"i'm good! it was a...uh-surprise to see you today."

"tell me about it," thea muttered

"well i guess you've met mason and ben now," he laughed lightly.

"yeah," thea breathed out slowly, biting down on her nails nervously.

there was a beat of silence before either spoke again.

"its-uh quite late...are you alright?" kai questioned, before adding quickly, "not like you have to have a reason for speaking to me. i like speaking to you-uh...yeah."

thea laughed slightly before responding,"there is...um-something that i wanted to speak to you about, if-if thats okay?"

"yes of course," kai answered straight away in an almost 'duh' tone

"could you...are you going to tell the boys that it was me?" she asked, kai noticing the anxious tone in her voice. "like at the coffee shop."

"do you want me to?"

"no, no, no!" thea babbled, stopping when she heard a chuckle from kai.

"thea, its okay. i'm not going to tell them," he spoke softly.

thea felt like a weight was lifted off of her shoulder. "thank you. it's not like i don't want them to know...i just...thought i would have a bit of time to prepare myself before i met all of you."

"of course. you don't have to explain yourself, but yes that makes perfect sense."

thea found herself smiling at his words. god, why is he so perfect and understanding? she thought to herself.

"thank you so much," thea said, a grin on her face.

"it's not a problem at all," kai dismissed, "i should....probably get to bed now, we have training tomorrow morning."

"oh shit yeah," thea's eyes widened, "sorry for calling you so late-"

"it's okay thea!" kai cut her off jokingly, before she started rambling again.

"gute nacht kai."

"gute nacht liebe."

thea purposely ignored her heart skipping a beat at the nickname, as she ended the call. she also ignored her body increasing in temperature as she pulled the duvet over herself. and she also ignored the sound of kai's voice in her head as she drifted off to sleep.
