Poetry for the Heart

My Heart is Broken

I fear my heart
It's been damaged
It's been stabbed
Burned
Broken
And cheated on
But it's still going 
A lot of people in my life have hurt me
They have either abandoned me
Or forgot about me
And I become a distant memory
I wonder if it's my fault 
But then I remember
People never stay in my life for long
But look how stupid I am
I forgave all of them
Because I fall in love too rapidly
Crash too hard and care too much
But also, at the same time
I don't trust anyone
So if I tell you I need you
See, don't take it lightly
I do everything on my own
I hate to depend on anyone
And to show any weakness
So if I say I need you
I mean that I trust you
To catch me when I fall
And help me through because
My thoughts have destroyed me
Than anyone ever could
