"I'm sorry to hear that such has happened, dear." Alastor quietly spoke with an empathetic tone.

"It's alright," Stella sighed lightly as she looked up at the dark sky above them that snuggled the wilderness with its embrace, "Hopefully, he's happy up there in the heavens now,"

"Oh I doubt he's up there if he did such heinous acts-"
Alastor paused as he saw Stella glance at him. He then shook his head and nodded silently, wishing not to interfere with her thoughts anymore. As he saw her staring upwards with sorrow, he suddenly felt the grief she carried release with every relaxed breath she took.

"Do you feel grief?" Stella suddenly asked him. Her gaze met his across the fading fire.

A brief moment of silence came upon Alastor. He debated on how to respond to her question for a while, until he took a deep breath in.
"I... Once did, a long time ago." he ended on a softer note. His hands interlocked on his knees as he inspected the forest floor beneath his shoes, "My mother was a very generous woman, always caring for her son. She'd try to do anything in her power to make sure I was well-fed and cared for, despite our state of destitution. I loved her. But... I made a grave mistake which led to her unexpected demise."

"Ooh goodness, I am so sorry for your loss, " She stood up, approaching him with gentle strides around the fire to reach him. Softly, she placed her hand on his back, gently patting it with compassionate intent as if it would help the heavy weighted feeling escape them both.

Alastor froze in response, but did not sense his body grow tense at all as it normally would.
Why do I not feel uncomfortable?
He turned her way, not knowing how to respond to her sudden act of kindness and sympathy. A feeling struck a chord in his soul, it being so new, it took his body a while to process it.

What is this feeling?
It was relaxing, making him loosen his guard as he sat there motionless, lost in thought.

Perhaps it is the fire?
He thought some more, until she released her hand. Her gesture made the feeling fade with her grasp as her hand rested beside her leg once more.

"Come now, it's getting late." Stella quietly added, stretching her wings by expanding them fully. Her voice was low. It vibrated with a gentle soothing tone, "The fire is also falling asleep,"

Alastor chuckled lightly. He stood up beside the Fallen Angel, both now towering over the quaint flame that remained glowing with bold flamboyant colour,
"I shall walk you to your tent. You know, just in case any bears come along," he teased.

"There are bears here?" Stella's voice shook a bit as she looked around.

"Only to those who are afraid, " He smiled, followed by a snicker as he began to walk towards Stella's tent. As he turned his head, an unexpected low branch swung at his forehead with a THUNK.
He almost yelped out in pain, but covered his mouth with his hand just in time to hide his expression. With his other hand, he began to rub his forehead aggressively in hopes to numb the discomfort.

Stella, standing right beside him, covered her mouth with her hand, almost mimicking the way he did so. She stood there with her feet planted into the soil as her wings slowly bloomed open along with a faint grin that rose on her face.

Alastor noticed her in the corner of his eye as he rubbed his forehead. He asked with a joyus tone,
"Are you smiling?"

"What? Noo,"

"You are smiling,"

"Hmm, no," Stella smiled even wider, putting in all her effort not to laugh.
