"It's a beautiful night, no?" Stella calmly stated as her gaze fell upon the cityscape. Her hand stretched out forward, as if wanting to grasp the light for herself and hold it in her palm to nurture.

Not as beautiful as you are tonight,
"Indeed. It is rather nice." Alastor nodded, placing his hands on the railing, feeling its cold rough texture through his glove.
He suddenly felt his chest hurt. The thought of asking this aloud to her- in this moment?!
What if she says no? What if she doesn't like what I want to say- what if she finds out about my old intentions?!

"Al?" Stella glanced at him, noticing he looked rather tense in the way he stood, "Is everything alright?"

"Why of course-" Alastor turned to face her, placing his hands behind his back to rest.
Don't lie you, imbecile,
"... actually,"

"What is it?"

He paused, collecting his thoughts, "I- I don't know how to tell you this... without sounding... well-"

"It's okay," Stella reassured him, placing her hand on his shoulder, " I won't judge,"

Wait- DON'T TELL HER WHAT OUR TRUE INTENTIONS ARE! ALASTOR!
"See," Alastor began, shaking his head slightly in response to his own thought, " I-... oh good heavens."

Stella smiled faintly, " Take your time, it's alright."

Alastor inhaled slowly, " When I met you, I thought to myself that... if I were to charm my way to your liking, you... you'd somehow give me access to Angelic Powers I thought you owned," he paused, looking at Stella's expression become blank, "But when I started to get to know you, I realized you where the one who charmed me instead. So now, I feel so ashamed of thinking to use you to my advantage in the first place."

"W- what do you mean by 'charmed'?"

"Stella," he paused, "I-... I have feelings for you- if it wasn't evident already. But I wish to tell it directly to you." Alastor looked away for a moment toward the cityscape, the light reflecting off his face as the moon began to gently peek from the clouds.

Stella felt a bundle of fairly mixed emotions travel up and down her body. It made her heart pump faster than it should but also caused her to feel as if it froze.
Me? Really really?

"And I know, now telling you this, it- I... sound so awful and cruel. I... understand if you, well... don't feel the same way- if you even did- before..." he looked down at the ground, feeling suddenly heavy as if a large weight was only added onto his shoulders, instead of it being taken off. He wished not to see her expression, afraid it would be of disappointment or fear.
"The thing is-... I've never been loved in a way like this before. To me, it's something new. No one has ever given me a chance, but you," he looked up at her for a second, and then back at the ground, "you did. And, quite frankly, I forgot I am even capable of feeling these feelings. So, I am not sure what I am supposed to do or not, and I-"

"... Al," Stella smiled softly as she looked at him with admiration for being open with her. Her wings fluttered softly as she felt her cheeks turn pink. His words made her heart beat a bit faster, but she felt calm, safe even.
She then took a deep breath.
"Out of all the men I loved in my life, you are the first to stay and not leave me...
Either they died, left me without telling me why, or cheated on me with another woman. It all made me feel hopeless- as if I had some sort of curse... It even made me fear to fall in love again, because I worried that... you'd leave me heartbroken as they did.
But, aside from that, I've seen you grow as a person, Al. I am quite thankful for you being open with me, I am! It means a lot to me, more than you can imagine. Even if you're intentions before were cruel, my feelings for you have not changed."

Alastor tilted his head slightly, merely gazing at her,
" P-Pardon?"

Stella nodded, " I feel safe and comfortable around you. You... you make me feel at home, loved, appreciated, and happy. Thinking back at the time we spent together; camping where you lent me your jacket, going to that amusement park where we first held hands, our first date on Earth, Halloween, Christmas- it all felt real, and none of that felt forced or- or pressured upon by others as everything that happened before in my life.
But this life... Alastor, I would be honoured, and more than happy to take it with you by my side,"

"... Really?" Alastor smiled faintly, feeling a comfortable and warm feeling fill his body as his cheeks faintly blushed, "Despite what I told you?"

"Mhm,"

"Despite me being who I am?"

"That's okay with me,"

Alastor- don't you dare say it. I am warning you,
Alastor gently took her hands into his. He felt his head spin as he tried to maintain his composure. He wished he could take her into his arms and hold her, but he still had one question to ask.
"Then, is it safe for me to say," He took a deep breath, making subtle eye contact with her, "-that I love you?"

Stella felt her heart stop beating for a second. His words sunk into her mind, exposing all those memories of her past lovers who told her those very same words. But this time instead of feeling a sense of guilt and sadness, she felt her cheeks flush just as he did. Her wings fluttered upwards to form a heart shape. She did not hide her face, nor feel the need to hide her feelings this time.
"I think it's quite alright," she chuckled softly, "that is, if you allow me to say 'I love you' too."

Alastor felt himself relax as he nodded. His ears gently dropped down to the sides of his head as he looked away briefly, feeling a bit shy with his words but overall feeling a sense of joy within his being.
"Who knew a heartless sinner like me... would find himself with a beautiful and kind angel like you, Stella,"

Stella smiled faintly, "... Rose,"

Alastor lifted his brow, feeling confused as his train of thought was disrupted.
"Rose?"

Stella nodded, "Roseallyn is my real name. 'Stella' was the stage name that I took, which I use now to introduce myself with. Despite fame and all- Roseallyn is the only thing I have left that wasn't published or... put in the limelight for everyone to see and know... it's a sacred name to me that I only allow the people close to me to use."

"It's a beautiful name, Rose," Alastor confessed, gently bringing Stella closer to his embrace as he smiled down at her. His gaze was warm and genuine, as so was his touch.

Stella felt her whole body relax. A delicate smile formed on her face as she brought her head to rest upon his chest as her arms wrapped around him for a generous hug. She felt safe, at home, and most importantly, happy.
After all of these years...
And he did as well.
The two cradled back and forth in each other's arms beneath the stars above. They were in peace.

They were in love.

🎶 Stars in the sky were dancing
One night perfect for romancing,
The night a sinner kissed an angel,
He wanted thrills, she wanted love,
Oh but his sighs were tender

As he begged her to surrender,
The night a sinner kissed an angel,
And she believed that it was love.
How was she to know that every lovely vow
Was part of the game he was playing,
But to his surprise he realized
Somehow he meant every word he was saying.

Yes, miracles can happen,
I know 'cause I saw what happened
That night a sinner kissed an angel,
That was the night I fell in love. 🎶
