12). LION'S ROAR VS FALCON'S CLAW

Sun rose up the next morning. I sat with my friends having a silent breakfast. I just got off the phone from Mitchell when the FBI agents came to take our two captives away. Mitchell told me not to get much more information but I managed to punch out their views about the letter and the red swift army knife I found at my locker. Well, I had bad luck. They didn't know anything about it. But they did give us enough hints that something was going to happen at tonight's game. And believe me, we were all worried. It means the one who'd commit something was someone between us and always one step ahead. If the letter is real then someone knew about our operation on the other side of town. And if it's fake then there is no way in hell the person could know about what we've been doing for almost three months now. We still have to do this right, we all agreed. Slowly we got up to wash our dishes and pack our bags. Logan was receiving constant texts from Nathan to be at the ground on time for practice. Tonight was his night! He was so determined to win.

"So," Logan broke the ice. "We got it, right? I mean, we'll keep an eye out for everyone. We'll try to keep heads on our suspects."

"That's when we're at school, during classes." Emma said. "Plan B comes when the game starts."

All heads turned towards me for the final clarification of what we have to do. I took a deep breath and stood up from my chair. "Ok guys, when we're at school, we'll do what Logan just said. Then after classes Emma and I will join a few practices with our cheerleading squad. That leaves Clark and Rachel out." I pointed at them. They both nodded.

"Clark will head to the bleachers while I'm going to roam in the school." Rachel proceeded after me. "If I find anything I'll inform you guys ASAP. But if not then, when Emma and April will head out for the ground, I'll stay behind again for a while before the janitor can lock the classes. Then I'll head for the bleachers too."

"As for me," Clark said, puffing his chest out. "I'll make sure the players are safe and nothing's fishy going around the ground. And when Rachel will join me at the bleachers, I'll head out for Nathan's house at 24th Pine Street. Rachel will take it from there and I'll be in contact with her."

Logan scratched his head. "Sounds like a good plan. But with just one thought." We all glanced at him confusedly. "Is it really ok to barge in Nathan's house when we're all on high alert?"

I pursed my lips. "I know it's risky. But we might not get a chance like this again. He said his sister will be attending the game so Clark has a clear way to head for it. Otherwise, we'll have double trouble in our heads. And that's keeping an eye out for Candice as well."

"That's true." Emma said, bobbing her head at me. "So, we're all done here. Let's get to school."

We reached the school quickly before time. Logan bid us bye and headed to the ground to join the team. I caught a glimpse of Nathan far away, practicing his kicks on the goal post and then reminded me of his brand new jersey that still awaits me in my bag. My sudden stop in my tracks caused Emma to stay back as well. When I turned around I saw Emma watching me with a soft smile over her face. "What?"

She scoffed. "Nothing. I'm saying you should go to him."

"You really mean it?" I was surprised.

Emma shrugged her shoulders. "Yeah, I have been nagging you since yesterday and the last time I checked, I really told you to move on towards him."

I rolled my eyes. "I know, I know. It's just….you know what's bothering me."

"Didn't we agree that we're gonna live some of our lives here as well? That's why Logan got on the team and you and I got into cheerleading." Emma said.  I puffed up at her and she giggled. "Stop being dramatic, April. Just get the hell with him."
