Ending Logan's call I turned back and saw Emma and Edward talking with each other. Miles stood alone aside. Neither Edward nor Miles took any glance at one another. Only Emma was the one who addressed Miles. Weird! Why are they not on good terms? I decided I'd talk to him later when he's alone.
"Is everything ok?" Edward asked with a smile.
"Yeah, all good." I said smoothly. Emma's eyes flickered towards me and I loved the way she shot me the look. The look she shoots whenever she understands any unspoken signal.
"Hey," Miles interrupted. "I just got a message. The principal's having everyone in the auditorium. Guess he's gonna announce the death."
Edward's face fell. The smile he was wearing was suddenly replaced by grief. Emma reached up and patted his shoulder. "It's ok. He's in a better place now."
Edward nodded, giving a gentle sniff. He quickly moped his nose, turning it a shade of pink. "Yeah, yeah, I guess so."
"Let's go. We better get moving." Emma said, gently guiding Edward with her towards the Auditorium. I trotted behind with Miles beside me.
"Hey Emmm, how's you doing?" He asked. "After everything you know…."
I shrugged. "I don't know. Honestly it's kind of difficult. It happened so suddenly, it's hard to move on so quickly."
"I get it. I barely knew the guy but he seemed like a good person." He said. "He was always busy with his sports."
I shot a tight smile. We went around the corridor, meeting with a bunch of students walking down in groups. I spotted Gretta walking away with her minions as usual. She caught my eyes and I was surprised to hell when she dodged her way to get as much away as she could from me. Wow! Now that's not what Gretta should be doing! She's the Queen Bee for God's sake!
Clark, Rachel and Logan sat around the table in their house. Having gotten to skip morning classes, they had gone to the mortuary to take a look at Billy and find as much as they could about him. Clark sat with Billy's phone at one side and his Laptop at the other. While Rachel and Logan sat in front of him, looking through his files.
"Found anything yet?" Rachel asked.
Clark shook his head. "Just some random pictures and the one we think is Theo. What about you guys?"
Rachel looked pissed. "Nothing to get some lead. He appears like a healthy boy. No injury, no trauma, no past medical history. Everything's perfect."
"I wonder what Billy was doing with Theo." Logan said, closing the file. Rachel made a grasp at it.
"Why? Maybe they were friends." Clark chimed in.
"Through what ? Theo doesn't even go to our school. So how come he's in contact with a boy who is not from the town?" Logan scratched his head.
Clark settled back. "Some answers that died with Billy, if you ask me."
Rachel looked up. "And we need to dig for those answers. That's what we are sent for."
"Do you think he's related to our mission?" Clark asked..
Rachel rolled her eyes. "Who knows. One way or another we gotta find out about this mysterious death."
They worked in silence again for a few more minutes. Clark, busy with his Laptop and the phone and Rachel and Logan going through the files. Rachel suddenly shifted closer to Logan. "Hey look at this. Little bit of swelling and a clot in the injured leg."
"Yeah, I saw that too. Must be from when he got hit during the game." Logan said.
"Yeah? But what about this?" Rachel turned over a page and placed her index finger at the first line. "He had a huge lump of clot in his leg. Don't you find it weird?"
