Dre was sitting on the bench on the rooftop, the same bench we sat on when he first took me here. Raffy was sitting next to him. I was standing close behind them.

His doctor gave us permission as long as Dre's under close monitoring. This is the best I can do when he said he wanted to feel alive.

It's late afternoon. The weather was nice.

From afar, the sky was so perfect with a touch of purple, blue, pink and orange. It was so beautiful. Yet, the clouds near us seem gloomy with grayish, heavy clouds.

The sea breeze is so relaxing. I know Dre is enjoying this. I can sense he's smiling.

Raffy excitedly told Dre, "Look over there." I followed where her finger was pointing. It's a flock of birds flying in a formation.

When she felt Dre wasn't responding, she whispered, "Dre, wake up. You have to wake up. You gotta see this."

After realizing her defeat, she turned to me and said, "He's asleep again."

I nodded.

Raffy leaned against Dre. We stayed silent for a few minutes.

After some time, she softly tapped Dre's leg and said without looking, "I know you'll be waiting for me when it's my time, I won't be long. It's your turn to be my angel."

I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply.

I walked towards Dre's side. Softly touched his arm and held his hand. He gently squeezed it as if it's the last bit of his strength. With that, I understood what it meant. I squeezed back.

The next day, Dre never woke up again.

The Beauty of ALMOST

I am not looking nor waiting for something.

I am just here, sitting, enjoying every moment.

The silence is playing the most beautiful rhythm.

As if saying a word can shatter everything

And here we are

Like the twilight in the sky.

No longer a day but not yet a night.

Afraid of making another step forward as much as stepping back.

Who are you?

Who am I to you?

How to end something so good?

How can you end something that didn't even start?
