Poem: Forbidden Fruit

In my heart there was a seed planted
And from it sprang desire
The desire to be more than friends
But less than lovers

A desire that could kill me
And everything I've known
The desire to have her
To kiss her, to hug her
And to hold her hand
As a friend not a lover
Or so I thought

My parents warned me about
What would happen if
I tasted the forbidden fruit
I'd end up like Eve
Dead in the garden of my heart

I tried but I couldn't
So I ran and took shelter
Under the forbidden tree
And as I looked at the fruit I heard someone whisper:
Eat it

I knew the consequences of the actions
That would follow
And as the serpent cried out...

I ATE

Because love is more than just a
DESIRE
