They're in town on a case where a woman died from being whipped seemingly by air. Another kid died last night and they had talked to a child protective service worker who told them about the Peterson family who live completely off the grid.

Dean pulls up to a gate that has a 'NO TRESPASSING' sign on it. The five get out of the Impala. The brothers are going with child protective service workers and the teens are supposed to be their shadows for the day.

"Guess we're walking from here." Dean states. He climbs over the gate, struggling with it. The other four walk around the gate, all giving Dean looks.

The two start to walk, stopping when they spot a pole that lead to a power line down on the ground.

"Whoa. When they cut the cord, they really cut the cord." Dean says.

"Yeah, no kidding." Sam says.

"How fast you think their buggy goes? Like, top speed?" Dean asks.

"Ooh--" Libby goes to answer.

"Hey, about yesterday..." Sam says, unintentionally cutting his daughter off making her pout.

"Oh, all right. Next time you gotta take a leak, I'll pull over." Dean says.

"I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about you and mom." Sam says.

"What about her? What, she took some cash, she took a cell phone she doesn't answer, and she bailed on us." Dean says.

"I mean, think about what she's going through. After everything, she probably just needs some space. We've been there. We've both had times where we needed time apart." Sam says.

"And we both came back." Dean says.

"You don't think she's going to?" Sam asks.

"I don't know. She hates the way that we were raised. She hates the fact that we're hunters. Maybe she starts walking and she doesn't stop. You know, she obviously has zero interest in keeping this family together."

"Well, you know, sometimes families do better after a little time apart."

"Yeah, who? The Mansons?"

They walk up to the house, a man seeing them as he walks around the house.

"Can I help you?" He asks.

"Uh, Abraham Peterson? I'm James Morrison. This is my associate, Ray Manzarek. Uh, we're your new case workers with child protective services. These three are in training." Sam says.

"Pleasure to meet you." Abraham says.

"Pleasure to meet you." Sam returns.

"Yeah, thought you'd be, uh, you know, long beard, suspenders, big hat." Dean says.

"We're not that kind of religious." Abraham chuckles.

They're inside, the teens standing by the fireplace as the brothers sit in arm chairs, the Peterson couple sitting across from them on a couch.

"Mr. and Mrs. Peterson, we're here because your previous case worker, Olivia Sanchez, has passed away." Sam states. The couple do the cross sign on themselves.

"What happened?" Abraham asks.

"We're not sure yet." Dean says.

"How often did you visit?" Sam asks.

"Every few months." Abraham says.

"We liked her better than the one one -- that Beth." Gail says.

"And what was wrong with Beth?" Sam asks.
