AS SOON AS we got to the car, we all got in. Well, except for belly. She started talking to the boy she was running with. I had to sit in the back, squeezed between Conrad and Luke. Of course Belly got to sit in the front, Jeremiah would do anything for her.
"Ugh move over." I said, shoving my brother with my shoulder.
"No, you move over little shit." He yelled, pushing me over. Conrad kept leaning on me, since he couldn't hold himself up, and he smelled like cologne and beer. I didn't even push him off though, I didn't really mind it. In the front of the car, Jeremiah and Belly were fighting because she wanted some boy to take her home. Something about her really had changed. She would always pretend to act older, and try to impress the boys more. I looked up to see that Belly had a full on makeout session with that guy right in front of us. I tried so hard to contain myself from laughing, but it didn't work. Luke put his hand over my mouth, but I could tell he was trying not to laugh as well.
Belly got in the car after she said bye, and Jeremiah started the engine. We started to drive away, moments before Jeremiah stopped the car, "Fuck! Steven." Great. Another person in the car. That meant I had to sit on someone's lap. "Watch Conrad. I'll be right back." Jeremiah slammed the door open, then shut, and started running to get Steven.
We were all just laughing in the car until a lady knocked on the window. My eyes widened, and we all went silent while we looked at her. Shit. Cops.
"Have you kids been drinking?" She asked. I looked down at my lap, because there was absolutely no way we were getting out of this now.

"Officers, thank you. It won't happen again, I can promise you that much." Laurel told the police.
"Tell Mr. Fisher the chief wants to set up a tea time when he gets back in town." The cop told Laurel. For real? Talking about that, at a time like this? Cops just make no sense.
"Absolutely. Sorry again for all the trouble." Laurel opened the door for them. "Have a good night officers." They walked out, and she shut the door.
Laurel then turned around and looked at us with that 'I'm disappointed' face. "How could you guys be so irresponsible?" She asked, looking each of us in our faces.
"Mom, it wasn't a big deal." Steven said, taking a step forward. "Seriously. The cops were just looking to break up the bonfire.
"Not a big deal?" She asked
"Yes."
"Getting picked up by the cops for underage drinking isn't a big deal? Lilah looks like she's about to pass out!" She yelled. Steven sniffed the air, and then laughed a little.
"Were you guys smoking tonight?" He asked her. I could smell it too.
"What? Keep your voice down. Susannah and Kayla are asleep on the couch." Why the hell was my mom asleep? If she was asleep at that time, then yeah. She was definitely smoking.
"Well, I wasn't yelling." Steven said. "You were."
"Just so you know Laurel, I didn't drink tonight." Jeremiah assured her, taking a step forward. " I was the DD, I swear."
"You're the oldest." She said, pointing to Conrad. What the hell has gotten into you?" She asked. "And Delilah? You're 15! Your mom would be pissed if she was awake right now. And also, when did you two leave the house without telling anybody? And what in the world are you both wearing?" She yelled at us. Laurel had never yelled at me. My whole life, Laurel was so sweet to me. But, I guess it's just because she was never the one to catch me doing bad things.
