I DONT THINK IT'S fair at all that Belly was on a date, and I was gonna be stuck at a book party. But if Belly isn't gonna be there for Laurel, than at least I should be.

I was sitting on a couch, scrolling through instagram, until someone sat next to me.

"Why are you sitting and being a bum, you're at a party." I looked up, to see my mom.

"It's about books, I would hardly consider it a party." I admitted. She sighed, and then looked me in my eyes.

"Just get up, walk around, talk to people, at least be social." She smiled, then stood up and walked away. Right after telling me to talk to people.

There was soft music playing, and tons of people laughing and talking. I really wish somebody I knew was there. It was all 40 and 50 year olds. But I decided to give in and just go do what my mom told me. I saw Conrad in a corner, pouring wine into a cup.

"Conrad!" I called over to him after putting my phone in my pocket and walking over. He almost dropped the wine bottle. He looked around at a bunch of people. That dude definitely had no idea what was going on. I rolled my eyes, but I walked up closer to him. Once he finished pouring it, he finally realized I was there.

I was about to open my mouth and talk to him, but Laurel interrupted from across the room.

"Conrad!" She yelled. I was alone, yet again. He handed me the cup right before he walked away. Now I was alone, and holding someone's drink. I don't even know why I came.

Conrad sat down next to the rest of us on a couch, and we were all squished like a pancake.

"This shit is so boring can we go somewhere?" Conrad asked.

"Yea where?" Luke asked.

"We could go into town, I don't know. Buy some weed from that guy with the Rainbow dash tattoo?" Jeremiah suggested.

"Nah he got arrested last summer." Luke explained. We were all speaking in low voices. It was a very boring conversation.

"You know, we could go to the drive in." Steven said. The moment he said that, flashbacks of what happened last summer flooded my mind. I would do anything to make sure I don't see that place again.

"No. No!" I yelled.

"Definitely not. I don't want to watch Belly hooking up with some kid in the backseat of a minivan." I agreed with that 100%. Plus, it was her first date. We didn't need to be bothering her.

"Yo, actually, let's go to the drive in." Conrad said.

"Really? Does nobody here have a brain? It's her first date." Nobody knew about what happened last summer, they thought I was just going on a fun date. I couldn't tell them the real reason I didn't wanna go.

"Nah, Let's go." Luke said

"All right bro." I just sighed as they each stood up. They started walking away, and I felt guilty just sitting there. I didn't think they were actually serious about this. Forget it. I stood up and ran to catch up with them. I mean, I would be okay. Right?

We pulled up right next to the car Belly was in. She must have said something to the boy she was with, because he got out of the car. The boys all started making kissing noises and laughing. I was laughing a little bit too. I didn't mean any harm though. I stopped and looked around, and realized I needed to get out of there,
