| CHAPTER FORTY |

Jun walks around the station, dumbfounded.

He had looked for Minghao everywhere. He had probably checked every single room on every single floor. Each and every inch in this building, Jun had looked.

No avail.

Minghao was nowhere.

"Chief?" Jun was in the office now, "I can't find him anywhere."

Seungkwan furrows his brows, "Did he even come into work today?" It was a few days after Minghao and Seungkwan's conversation. It's confusing, Minghao had been here, normally working for these past few days, until now.

"He did." Dino's eating his food, mouth full, "He spoke a few words to me this morning." He shrugs, "I never really saw him leave."

Jun looks at Mingyu, "Did you?"

Mingyu shakes his head, gesturing towards Wonwoo, "We were both downstairs helping another team with technical issues. We haven't seen him at all today." He tells him.

Jun parts his lips, brows scrunched in confusion.

"Maybe he's in the bathroom."

"I checked everywhere." Jun shakes his head, "I can't find him at all."

"Maybe he headed out for his break."

"His doesn't start for another forty minutes," Dino looks at his computer, pointing at Minghao's schedule. He had pulled it up in curiosity, "And he's not really one to leave early like this."

Jun stays silent, and honestly, the confusion was eating him up.

"Anyone know where he lives?" Wonwoo shrugs, "Maybe he went home."

"He wouldn't do that." Dino says again.

"It won't hurt to make sure."

Jun nods at Wonwoo, thinking, "you really think he's there?" Jun's already decided to leave, swinging his jacket around his shoulders.

"Most likely. Where else would he go?"

Jun nods, turning to leave.

"Junhui." He's stopped by Seungkwan's voice, the chief looking at him seriously, "Let us know when you find him. I don't want to file another missing person report." He breathes.

Jun stares at his boss for a second, a bit confused at the order, but he nods nonetheless, signifying he will, and then he's walking out of the room, soon out of the building.

He's at Minghao's apartment complex before he can even blink. He doesn't even remember the drive here, his thoughts had clouded his mind, making it dull and full of what any person who had common sense would label as concern.

His hand turns to a fist, knuckles knocking against the door, "8?" He asks, leaning closer.

Silence.

He knocks again, brows furrowed.

Nothing.

His fingers wrap around the doorknob, and freezes when it opens smoothly. It's then when he notices the cracks along the wood, almost as if someone had pushed it open with a harsh force just recently.

The door creaks when it opens, hitting the drywall.

"8?" Jun stands in the doorway awkwardly, looking around. His eyes immediately snap forward, the step where him and Minghao sat just weeks ago being the first thing he sees.
