| CHAPTER TWENTY - SIX |

The whole ride there Minghao was zoned out, paying no mind to the conversations in the car, the plans that were being planned, the glances Jun gave him in the backseat.

He was just silent, hands rested on his lap.

He brought the gun Seungcheol gave him, telling his colleagues that it was just the gun he picked up for himself in the weapon room. Most officers had assigned ones, so they believed him pretty quickly.

It was tucked in his belt loop, secure and ready for action.

Minghao wasn't though.

Staring out the window, he could only imagine the betrayal that would coat Seungcheol's face. The disappointment clear in his expression... It was haunting Minghao, and it hadn't even happened yet.

"I really think we should turn around." Minghao lifts his head, ears catching a whisper, "He's not okay."

"I'm sure he's fine." Minghao hears Dino say back, and he wants to pull the boy into a bone crushing hug. Dino plunges his ear piece in, clicking his tongue, "Just keep an eye on him, we got your back as well."

Jun scoffs, "Why am I on babysitting duty?"

Minghao parts his lips, a silent scoffed chuckle falling past them. He shakes his head, taking his own ear piece out of his bag. He goes to slide it in the shell of his ear, "You know I can hear every word you're saying right?"

Jun stills in his spot, and Minghao snorts, shaking his head.

"Arrived at destination." Seungkwan says into a walkie, stopping the car.

Minghao sits up in his seat right when the vehicle comes to a stop, nervous eyes immediately searching for the building.

They were a few yards away, presumably to keep from being seen. It wasn't a long jog, maybe a few minutes at most. They weren't on a time crunch though, Minghao knew... Seungcheol had said he'd be there a while.

Minghao takes a deep breath, internally cursing when they all start climbing out of the car. His feet hit the concrete moments later, his gun already in his grip, ready and secure.

"Alright, turn them on." Seungkwan refers to the ear pieces, "If we end up splitting up, we have a way to contact each other, got it?" He eyes his troop, everyone nodding.

Seungkwan eyes Dino, "You ate right?"

Dino gives his boss a look, "Sir," He scrunches his brows, "We're about to go inside a highly guarded building to catch a man we've been after for years and you're asking me if I ate?"

Seungkwan shrugs, "Well sorry, it's not my fault. You were the idiot last time."

Dino doesn't have time to scoff before they're all moving again. Seungkwan jogs over to the other officers, speaking with them. He had called for backup of course, he wasn't stupid, and Minghao was a bit surprised with his brains. He always laughed at the mere mention of the authorities.

Everyone had their weapons out, as well as their ear pieces inside, and every step towards the building burned. Minghao tried not to shake, gripping the gun in his hands tighter.

"Okay... okay, fuck—" Seungkwan curses, throwing himself up against the wall, "Back up, back up, back up, hold on—" He ushers everyone to lean up against the wall next to him.

"What is it?"

"Guard." Seungkwan whispers, gun tight in his grip. Minghao gulps as he watches Seungkwan move, slowly peeking his head from the corner, trying to get a better look.
