| CHAPTER FIFTY - NINE |
"Junhui," Seungkwan breathes heavily, shaking his head, "You can't go alone."
"He'll only listen to me, you know that." Jun says, brows scrunching in plead, "We and the team have looked every inch and corner of the building.... down there is the only place he'd be.... If I walk through those doors right now—"
"You'd be his weakness." Seungkwan says, face serious, "If you walk through those doors right now, you'd be his weakness, Junhui. Seungcheol might end up using that to his advantage."
Jun pauses, letting out a sigh, "I have to try." He says, "If I don't go, he'll die." He tells the chief, "He'll fucking die and then I'll have to live the rest of my life regretting I stayed still."
Seungkwan stares at Jun, taking his bottom lip between his teeth. He soon lets it drop, as well as his head, "Promise me," He pleads, eyes closed before opened, "Promise me both of you will return safely, I can't lose any of you today."
Jun swallows, "I promise." He knows making promises in this type of situation was stupid, but there's no other way Seungkwan would allow him to go if he didn't do so.
Seungkwan, still hesitant, takes slow steps back, eyes on Jun, "I'll head down the main corridor and meet up with Jihoon and Dino." He says, "Beomgyu and Yeonjun are meeting with them as well. Once we're all gathered up, we're heading your way, and I don't care if you hate the idea."
Jun's lips turn up into an appreciated smile, "Thank you, chief."
Seungkwan nods, "Stay safe, Junhui." He takes a breath, reloading his gun, "I'll see you again."
After Seungkwan runs down the hall, Jun finds himself frozen. He can't move, the fear and anticipation of what might be behind those doors making his mind run haywire. He was scared for what the future may hold, and he was scared for not only the team and himself, but Minghao.
He soon finds the determination he was looking for, the energy all of a sudden running through his veins like blood, charging him up, getting him ready for whatever was to come.
With a clock of his gun, he pushes the doors open.
He hears muffled shouts down the hall almost immediately, and his ears ring. He feels like his heart is doing constant flips, and his chest suddenly felt tight.
He raises his gun, walking down the hallway cautiously.
When he gets to a corner, he pauses, leaning his back up against the wall. The shouts were closer now, just a hallway away Jun could presume.
With a gulp, Jun turns the corner, shoulder slumping in relief at the sight of nobody, only to tense once more when he notices the blood covering the ground, the several dead bodies of guards before him making him shiver.
He shrugs off the sudden feeling, making his way down the hall. He's cautious like before, gun lowered by his abdomen, only raised when he reaches another corner.
The shouting stopped, and all Jun heard now was ragged breathing, as if someone just ran a marathon, as if they were exhausted beyond belief.
It was close, just around the corner he hid, and he closed his eyes, taking a silent breath to prepare himself for whatever was behind the wall.
