"I'm sorry" "stop saying that." "You shouldn't have to do this. It's unfair to you and your uncle." "Kayla it's fine, we both agreed that it's better then being physically abused every time you go home." Kayla pulled on her ear lobe as she looked out the window. "I can't believe it was that easy." "What was?" "Leaving."
-
"It's okay I-" Eddie dropped a bag on the ground. He looked back up Kayla who had been smiling awkwardly. "What the hell is in this thing?" "Clothes, shoes, a few books. Records-" "you put records in here!?" He said worried. "Kayla Reign." He said picking up the bag. "Hey wait-" she was cut off by the sound of a screen door swinging open. "Took ya long enough. Dinners getting cold!" An older man said standing at the door. "Sorry- we just got stuck in traffic." "Traffic at this time of the night?" "Traffic" Kayla said pulling out a six pack of beer from the vehicle. "Traffic." The man smiled. "Here let me help- dammit! What the hells in this.." he complained grabbing the bag from Eddie. "Everything." Eddie said grabbing the other bag from her hand.

"It smells lovely." Kayla said as she walked through the door. "Don't get used to it. Eddie's the cook around here." He chuckled. The door shut behind her causing her to jump. Eddie noticed and smiled at her. "I usually work nights so you won't see me much. But when you do, I'll be sitting right here drinking a beer." He said pointing at a lazyboy. "I promise he's not an alcoholic." Eddie laughed. "One more year of high school and I might become one." He pointed a beer can at Eddie. "He's going to graduate this year, I'll make sure of it." Kayla said tugging on his finger. "There are plates in that lower cabinet and silverware in the second drawer. Drinks in the fridge. It's not much but it's something." "Oh I love lasagna! How did you know?" She smiled. She followed his eye contact to the boy making a ruckus in his room. "He's a good kid. Always helping everyone out when he can. He's got a big heart." He said. Kayla took a seat on the floor in the living room with her plate. "There are couches for a reason Kayla." "It's okay, I prefer to eat on the floor anyway. I've always ate on the floor. Ever since I was little." "Okay weirdo." He said taking a bite of his food. "My names Wayne by the way. Ed told me you were really polite, I don't wanna hear none of that mr Munson shit." He said smiling at the tv. "Okay... Wayne." Kayla said smiling at her plate. "Y'all are eating without me!? Rude! " Eddie poked his head over the couch and raised an eyebrow. "Why are you on the floor?"
-
"I promise I'm going to get a job to do my part around here." "Your job is finishing High school and making sure he graduates." He looked at Eddie. Eddies mouth was full of food which made him look like a chipmunk. "You got it." I smiled. "Alright I'm going to bed. Goodnight kids." I smiled at him as he placed his dishes in the sink. "Oh also, if you like.. do anything just try to keep it down. Please. And be safe.." my face flushed a bright red along with Eddie's. "Uncle.." "I'm just saying." He said shutting his door. I turned around and looked at the boy next to me. His face was red, maybe even more then mine which was awfully cute. "So.." "hm?" Eddie said looking at the tv. "I saw something when I was rummaging around in your fridge." He slowly looked at me with wide eyes. "Yeah?" Eddie sat his plate down on the table and smiled. "Yeah.." I watched him walk around the table to the kitchen. He opens up the fridge and pulled out a gallon of chocolate milk. "Is this what you want princess?" I gasped and put my hands on my chest dramatically. "Oh yes, how ever did you know!?" "I just know princess." He smiled pouring a glass and walking to me. "Why thank you." He pulled it away and looked at me. "What's in it for me?" I climbed up on the couch and looked up at him. "What do you want?" I asked smiling at him. I couldn't help but watch his eyes drift between my lips and my eyes. "A kiss from the princess?" "A kiss you request? A kiss you shall receive." He lent down and kissed me gently.
