You were on a mission with Clint, Wong, Stephen, Vision and Wanda. Infiltrate one of Hydra's camp. Rescue the children held captive. Erase any trace that could track the group down.

Wanda's eyebrows were furrowed in confusion when you decided to pair up with Wong the second you noticed her slowly approach you after the briefing. You had always been Wanda's partner during missions when given the chance. But ever since that night after Tony's party, something changed between the two of you.

You definitely weren't avoiding Wanda because Vision was there.

For sure, you weren't trying too hard on your performance as soon as the mission started just to impress a certain brunette.

But you knew you were only trying to convince yourself.

Also, you had a mission within the mission. Every chance you got, you risked starting a conversation with Wong on topics in line with the multiverse or spells or magic scrolls. To which you were amazed that he seemed truly unaware of your intentions.

Wong looked somewhat glad how someone as young as you would be interested to know more. He also mentioned Stephen being a worse apprentice than you before.

You were about to ask Wong something about an alternative way other than the use of scrolls when a bright red shield appeared before you with a furious and glaring Wanda. It would appear that someone from Hydra was aiming a missile your way, only exploding upon the barrier Wanda created around you.

"Less chitchat, Y/n! Are you trying to get yourself killed?!"

Even when Wanda looked mad, she never failed to mesmerize you in some way and she wasn't even trying.

You gave a small apology to which she immediately softened.

"Just... just be careful from now on," she said as she floated away from you.

When you turned back to Wong's direction, it was already empty. Then Stephen appeared behind you.

"I know what you're trying to do, Y/n and I'm warning you now, it's not gonna work," he said with a tone you've never heard him say before.

The mission was a success, as expected. After all the children were evacuated, you planned to have a small talk with Wong, but decided against it once receiving a glare from Stephen.

When you heard Vision invite Wanda to dinner behind you on your way back, you hurriedly walked towards the quinjet, not even waiting to hear Wanda's response.

You couldn't care less if they decided to get back together. You knew Wanda in this universe will never be yours and you've accepted that fact.

But as you took a seat inside the quinjet and Wanda quickly sat beside you with a warm smile, you couldn't deny the hope still lingering inside of you.

During dinner that day, as Steve recounted the mission they had with Natasha's younger sister and newest recruit, Yelena, and how proud Natasha was, your mind was still floating around on how to come up with a plan to obtain the magic scroll.

Even if you ever did manage to steal it, there was no way you'd know how to use it. You were no sorcerer or witch.

It didn't help when your sweet dreams of Wanda variant from universe 489, be it dreams where you were cooking her favorite Sokovian dish only ending up forgotten and burnt as she made love with you on her knees by the kitchen counter or times when you were just playing snowball with a small kid against a helpless Wanda, only for those sweet dreams to turn into nightmares.

This ended up in you waking in the middle of the night for the third time, sweating and gasping like crazy.

As you decided to go to the kitchen to grab yourself a glass of water, you couldn't help but think about the last figments you remembered from your nightmare.

Kamar-Taj. Injured face of Wong. Smokes. Rubbles everywhere. Wanda in red. But she looked different from the Wanda variant you knew.

A warning to Wong would probably prevent it from happening if ever it was a glimpse from the future. But you knew you don't have that kind of power.

Maybe it was just your own conscience, due from stress and worry, making you end up with such a dream. People from universities had made psychological studies to confirm that.

"Couldn't sleep?"

You jumped from the sound of her voice, almost dropping your glass. You didn't expect any one from the compound would still be wide awake by now.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you," Wanda apologized, chuckling softly, as she made her way to the refrigerator.

She excused herself, and you realized she was trying to get to the refrigerator behind you so you skipped to your left but she also went to her right, bumping into you, so you stepped to the other direction and she also did the same, her body pressed against you.

You both let out an embarrassed laugh and mutter apologies as you grasped each other's arm, turning each other accordingly until she was in front of the refrigerator.

You relaxed immediately as you gave another nervous laugh. "I thought I was alone."

"Nightmare?"

Forcing out a smile, you nodded. Then you noticed she couldn't see you as her face was covered by the fridge's door, so you muttered a tiny yes.

You couldn't help stare at her features. Even in her pajamas, Wanda still looked ethereal. Before you could get caught checking her out, you immediately turned away and finished drinking.

"I can, you know, I can help you relax," Wanda suggested, her face now appearing.

Then she slowly approached you after placing the bottle of juice she took from the refrigerator on the counter.

Your face must have turned beet red as Wanda came so close to your body, faces just mere inches away from each other. You were about to ask her how when her hands slowly reached and cupped your face. Her green eyes stared at you with so much intensity, probably uncovering what you're trying to hide from the world.

"I'm not going to read your mind, Y/n, don't worry," she whispered. "I learned this from my trainings with Natasha... I didn't even know I had this power all along until then. Bruce confirmed it doesn't have any negative side effects, we already made random tests... If you're up for it though. But if you're not comfortable, that's also fine by me."

You must have nodded, because the next thing you saw, her eyes were glowing red.

You could feel an energy flow right into your head from her hands. A warm, fuzzy, good kind of energy. It made you at ease and so happy, you suddenly forgot about the nightmare and the other darkness and doubt inside your mind.

Then her eyes turned back to green as she smiled.

"Better?" Wanda asked, her hands still on your face.

And you couldn't help but just stare at her mouth, remembering how it tasted like and how it felt against yours.

You swore you could also feel her gaze on your lips as distance between the two of you became so much less. The sudden thud of the front door unfortunately broke the moment.

Wanda stepped away from you as you quickly thanked her. Then Stephen appeared right in front the two of you, looking disheveled, as if he just came back straight from a mission.

"Oh, great, you're awake," Stephen greeted, glaring at you. "I need a word with you, Y/n..." Turning to Wanda, he said, "Hi, Wanda..."

Wanda excused herself as she grabbed the bottle of juice from the counter and bid goodnight.

When she was out of earshot, Stephen's fingers went around your wrist as he pulled you towards the front door. "We've got a problem."

"What the hell's wrong with you-"

You immediately stopped in your tracks as you saw a very familiar boy, around five years of age, with blonde hair the same as yours and green eyes as green as Wanda's, standing on the doorstep. He was wearing a toothy smile and his eyes were filled with so much delight as he saw you.

"Mommy!" The boy immediately ran towards you, hugging you tight by your knees.

When you looked at Stephen with confusion, he only sighed.

"Y/n, meet Billy Maximoff... Your son from universe 489."
