The day had finally arrived when you would leave your own universe for the mission. You should be happy. You should be excited.
You were looking forward to this day before. You even planned on how to get the magic scroll from Wong. And now, they were willingly performing the spells right in front of you. They were desperate. You seemed to be the only way the good can win, their last resort.
The past you would be ecstatic, rejoicing, for you finally get to be with the Wanda who wanted you.
Consumed with thoughts from last night, you realized that kissing back Wanda was a bold yet stupid move from your part. It was not because you didn't want to but you could tell there were consequences with your actions.
Wanda kissing you first should mean something. Your mind began to wonder. If you did get back to your own universe after the mission, would she still even want you?
You were broken, stained by the desire to be loved. And you didn't deserve them both, the Wanda from universe 489 and from your own.
"You okay?" Stephen brought you back to reality.
You nodded. "Just nerves."
Stephen took a moment of silence, trying to convince himself of your answer. Then when he finally did, he began performing the spell from the magic scroll. Eventually, a portal was conjured before you.
Entering through the portal, you found how the universe 489 looked very different from the last time you visited it. The sky cried rain when you arrived at the town Wanda has taken hostage.
Stephen hid you first as him and the other Wong, who was still limping from his injuries, warily approached the threshold. Some sorcerers and sorceress from Kamar-Taj who survived the battle appeared beside them to help. They looked so beaten down and tired to the core, you couldn't help but feel sorry because you knew it was your fault, your own existence, that jeopardized their universe.
"Wanda!" Stephen called out to nothing.
The atmosphere around them felt almost electric as if surrounded by a made up fog that obscured the reality. When Stephen performed a spell you didn't know, the fog cleared out and before you were lines of damaged houses, blocks of rubbles on the streets and countless smokes from burned trees. You could see a few townspeople running or limping in the background, looking a way to escape.
This was what a Scarlet Witch could do to an entire town if she was deprived of the thing she wanted the most. You.
A sinister laugh suddenly boomed the entire place, as if they were cornered by Wanda everywhere.
"There's no Wanda here."
Magically appearing before them, Wanda looked ethereal in a dark red outfit with a wimple around her head. Your lips parted in awe at the sight of her. Her eyes were darker than before, gleaming red and sunken, like she hadn't slept for ages.
"Only the Scarlet Witch," she went on, her voice so evil, you couldn't almost hear her accent.
"So... did you bring me the boy?"
But Stephen only shook his head. A mistake on his part when he tried to explain why and Wanda just bursted out a red bubble that exploded towards everyone around.
Stephen and some others managed to escape. Wong released orders and then the fighting began.
They must have fought longer than you had expected, creating more damage to the town and shedding more blood on the streets. It got to the point where you no longer want this to go any further.
Stephen was blasted towards a dilapidated house that crumbled to pieces upon the impact, making the children run away from the commotion, faces covered with ashes and dry tears.
