After the job was done, you first wanted to go home, curl up and wait for Shuji to come and cuddle your worries away...guess dead doves don't speak.

You waited in the city centre, tapping your foot as a Lambo tore through the rain puddles collected on the streets. The slow growl of the engine and the screech of the tires. The driving style was too smooth, must be Naoto's.

He rolled the tinted windows down, the opaque material highlighting his greek-god sculpted face.

"You are staring," he said with cheeks daubed with a faint blush, "get in the car."

"My bad," you replied nonchalantly, eyes still blown out and unfocused, you buckled your seatbelt, feeling safer at the fabric restraint against you.

"Is something wrong?" Naoto asked, keeping one of his hands on yours, snugly resting them.

"Ran killed the carrier," you said with an octave that was close to a gasp; a gasp in response to the fear, the pain and the helplessness; a gasp that was a plead in the dark to be freed from all the shackles and just...perhaps...die.

"Shit," Naoto's grip on your hand tightened unconsciously, "you are okay, right?"

"No," you choked out, "he killed him in front of my Naoto, walked to him, handed me this bloody necklace and commented, "No one steals from Bonten's property."

Tears ran down your cheeks as your body trembled violently, "Is this all that I am, Naoto? A property of someone?" His thumb rubbed circles on the exposed skin of your hand.

"All I wanted was to live a happy life with Shuji, how did I end up being claimed as a pet of these criminal scumbags?"

Naoto gulped and mustered up his courage to speak, the sentence was a direct pain to his heart, "you have to remember, Y/n," he said hoarsely, "it's the only way Takemichi can go back and change the future." The future where you would be with Hanma Shuji, the way it needed to be; the future in which you wouldn't even know about his existence, the future where he would be left with a longing for you and you would never know.

You buried your eyes in your palms, "I can't remember!"

Naoto hummed as he thought of something, gears in his mind rotating till he formulated an idea. Truly a prodigy.

"I have an idea," he mumbled, "It might be a bit dangerous, but it is a possibility."

"What is it?"

"Let's get you acquainted with your new abode first," he smiled and parked the car in front of...an orphanage.

"An orphanage?" you asked walking out with him, sounds of faint laughter of children that made you nostalgic about your childhood, the best time of life where one could live without fear, boundaries, stress, discrimination and prejudice.

"Yeah," he smiled, " they were kind enough to give us rooms, me and Chifuyu are sharing and Draken and Mitsuya are sharing...you get your privacy, but...you will have to share with a kid."

You hummed in thought, "shouldn't be a problem, but where do we have to go if we want to discuss the plans?"

"They have an infirmary which is always empty, especially during nights."

"Works," you smiled, "which is my room?"

Naoto guided you through a spiralling staircase, the gas between the stairs, each having the English alphabet written on them, that's 26 stairs to the next floor, a smart move to make kids learn.

"That one is mine," he pointed to the one on the left," and the other one is Draken's."

"Alright", you chuckled, "let's get familiarised with this little  twerp."
