"Y/N, would you like to work in our pet shop?"

Yep, these were the words that made you quit your desk job and work with Chifuyu and Kazutora. Was it much less earning than your previous job? Yes. Do you plan on leaving any time soon? No.

The first few months were very awkward. A few animals hated you at first, Kazutora was scared of you...which was funny because you were avoiding him as well.

As the poets say, time heals even the greatest of scars, so it was only natural you forgave Kazutora, a mature decision of an adult.

Slowly and gradually you got used to the shop and it became your new home. A small little abode filled with memories and furry friends.

You also got to know about Peke J, Chifuyu's old black cat who your big brother adored. He was a gentle feline, lazing around in corners of the shop, away from the loud and noisy, young kittens.

"The new shipment of dog food is here," you pointed holding the carton in your hand.

"I'll take it," Kazutora rushed taking the box from your hand and running into the store.

You sighed and looked around the main desk, fiddling with the small animal figurines Chifuyu had kept for the 'aesthetic'.

Your attention was drawn to the entrance as it opened, tingling the wind chime next to the hinge.

"Y/n, come with me, I have something to show you," Chifuyu huffed. His sweatpants were covered with grass and his hoodie had flower petals on it.

"What about the shop?" you asked as he clasped your hand.

"I'll handle it," Kazutora said while wiping his hands on the apron, "you guys go."

And just like that, you were dragged to god knows where.

"Close your eyes," Chifuyu said.

"Why?" you asked

"Just do it!" he pouted and you agreed.

He kept a hand on your eyes and guided you through what seemed like a maze.

He stopped at one place and removed his hand from your eyes. You squinted to adjust to the lightning, eyes widening as soon as your mind registered the location.

Hanma Shuji

(1989-2018)

Chifuyu had decorated his grave with purple flowers and ribbons purple You had mentioned to him about his obsession with purple things.

You looked at Chifuyu with tear-laden eyes, disbelief and warmth flooding them.

"Wait, the surprise is not over yet," he said dragging you a little further to another grave.

Baji Keisuke

(1990-2004)

The tombstone had been cleaned and decorated with flowers, in the middle lay the half-eaten Peyong Yakisoba, you knew the story too well. The first Chifuyu came to your house, your brother shared his favourite Yakisoba with him.

You kept on visiting him and Shuji regularly after the case was over, telling both of them about your day, how you missed both of them terribly.

A hiccupping -sob left your throat as you wrapped your arms around Chifuyu tightly. His fingers ran in your hair until you pulled away.

He knelt down to Baji's grave, picking up the pebbles and handing them to you.

You tilted your question.

"Did you know that penguins give rocks to the person they wish to court, so I got you...rocks," he answered sheepishly.

Your eyes widened at his implied yet bold confrontation.

"Are you seriously doing this in front of my brother and late husband?" you laughed.

Chifuyu snicked and nodded his head, "yeah, I came here to take their permission."

"Baji-san and Hanma!" he said loudly, "please allow me to date Y/n, I promise I will always keep her happy!" He did a 90-degree bow between the two gravestones.

Lifting his head he looked at you, "I guess we can go now."

You nodded and intertwined your hand in his and started walking towards the gate of the cemetery, only for Chifuyu to trip on a stone right in front of Shuji's grave.

You snorted  at the motion, "he doesn't like you."

"Oi Hanma, that was unnecessary," he stuck his tongue at the gravestone and you could only laugh.

And thus began the story, which Chifuyu liked to call

Peyong Yakisoba. Pebbles, Peke J
